The cover of the upcoming LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded has been updated since the first time we saw it last year. It now shows a lot more minifigures on the cover as well as an updated silhouette of the exclusive minifigure that will be included with the book. LEGO Star Wars in 100 Scenes by DK Publishing

The chums over at Brick Fanatics has found a new book by DK Publishing that may appeal to both LEGO fans as well as Star Wars fans. This new book is called LEGO Star Wars in 100 Scenes and it details 100 different iconic scenes from all six Star Wars films using LEGO sets and minifigures. The 216 page hardback book won’t be released until April 7, 2015 but you can preorder now on Amazon for $13.19.

LEGO Architecture: The Visual Guide Book Review

A few days ago, I received a package in the mail from DK and inside was the fairly recent released LEGO Architecture: The Visual Guide. I actually got two copies of the book so I’ll be doing a giveaway after the review so stay tuned for that.

The book itself is a hardback which contains 232 pages and retails for $40. Like all other DK books, you know you’ll be getting high quality content as well as crisp images. In collaboration with LEGO and Adam Reed Tucker, The Visual Guide takes a look at the LEGO Architecture sets along with builders and the inspiration behind the set.

The first thing you notice when you first look at the LEGO Architecture: The Visual Guide is the sheer size of it. The book comes with a nice slipcover which features some of the more recognizable Architecture sets.

The book starts off with an introduction with the beginnings of the LEGO Architecture theme which actually started in the 1960s and how LEGO artist Adam Tucker Reed revived the theme. LEGO noticed Adam’s models and were so impressed with his vision that they relaunched the Architecture line in 2008. The book also takes a look at the four LEGO designers who have worked on the theme including Steen Sig Andersen, Rok Zgolin Kobe, Jorn Kristian Thomsen, and Michael Hepp.

First Image of LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded

Rebels Report has tweeted out the first image of the new LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded. They also note that the book will include the Star Wars Rebels characters along with all the minifigures that have been released since the previous book in 2011. There will be 72 additional pages in the newest Character Encyclopedia which bumps the page count to 280. The book will be released on May 5, 2015 but you can pre-order now on Amazon. Now to speculate on who the new exclusive minifigure will be included.

The Art of the Brick: A Life in LEGO Book Review

Every piece of art comes with a story and renowned LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya has told his story behind his many creations in his latest book, The Art of the Brick: A Life in LEGO by No Starch Press.

The book consists of 248 fully-colored pages and retails for $29.95.

The dust jacket shows an image of one of Nathan Sawaya’s most recognizable creations, “Yellow.” The inside of the jacket gives a short overview of what A Life in LEGO is about.

Nathan Sawaya is renowned for his incredible, sometimes surreal, sculptures and portraits—all made from LEGO bricks.

The Art of the Brick is a stunning, full-color showcase of the work that has made Sawaya the world’s most famous LEGO artist. Featuring hundreds of photos of his impressive art and behind-the-scenes details about how these creations came to be, The Art of the Brick is an inside look at how Sawaya transformed a toy into an art form.
