There will be some new pet sets coming to the LEGO BrickHeadz line and the first one of the March releases I’ll be checking out is the Budgie (40443). It has 261 pieces and will retail for $14.99 like with the other ones in the Pets subtheme.

LEGO has officially announced two new LEGO BrickHeadz set for the Pets subtheme that will be releasing on March 1. These two sets will include the Goldfish (40442) and the Budgie (40443). You can check out the details of the sets below.

40442 LEGO® BrickHeadz™ Goldfish

Kids who love animals will adore this BrickHeadz™ Goldfish (40442) build-and-display set. The goldfish and fry both sit on iconic BrickHeadz stands and look as if they’re ready to blow bubbles underwater. The stands fit into a sturdy, blue base that includes coral and plants and comes with 2 stickers – 1 with bubbles, 1 with corals – for decorating the base. This buildable pet set is a perfect gift for all kids, BrickHeadz collectors and pet lovers.

40443 LEGO® BrickHeadz™ Budgie

Bird fans will flock to this BrickHeadz™ Budgie (40443) build-and-display set. The budgie (also known as a parakeet) and chick both sit on iconic BrickHeadz stands designed to look like wooden bird perches. The Lunar New Year is coming up in a few short weeks and LEGO has released a set to celebrate it with the Chinese New Year Pandas (40466). The set has 249 pieces and retails for $19.99 and it features a mother panda along with two cubs.

The mother panda is in a sitting position. The build uses a number of the Brick 1X2X1 2/3 W/4 Knobs for the head which allows it to have details on all four sides. It has its own baseplate which includes a red lantern as well as a small mandarin orange tree. The tree also has a couple of small lanterns.

One of the baby pandas is also in a sitting position. Like its mother, the head uses the specialized bricks for the head but in a smaller scale. It also comes with a bamboo stalk.

The other cub is similar to the other one except that the legs are straight and there’s a Technic hole in the back to connect to the baseplate. This makes it look like it’s either sleeping or playfully frolic on the floor. It also has a stalk of bamboo.

Overall, it’s nice to see LEGO expand on the the Lunar New Year celebration but the LEGO BrickHeadz Chinese New Year Pandas (40466) seem to be somewhat lacking something. The second set from the new LEGO BrickHeadz Pets that I’ll be taking a look at are the Shorthair Cats (40441). It has 250 pieces and retails for $14.99 and the set consists of a shorthair cat and a kitten.

For 2021, LEGO has released a new subtheme for the LEGO BrickHeadz line which are the Pets which features some animals that are popular as pets but in brick form. The first one that I’ll be taking a look at the German Shepherd (40440). It has 247 pieces and retails for $14.99 and it has the German Shepherd as #118 and the Puppy as #119.
