LEGO Dimensions Wave 4 Expansion Packs Now Available & Exclusive Interview

LEGO Dimensions Midway Arcade Gamer Level Pack (71235)

Wave 4 of the LEGO Dimensions expansion packs are now available for purchase including the Midway Arcade Gamer Level Pack (71235), the Ghostbusters Fun Pack (71233), the Superman Fun Pack (71236), and the Aquaman Fun Pack (71237). These new packs allow you to play as those respective characters in the game along with using their abilities to solve various puzzles. The new level pack gives you tons more content which also includes letting you play some classic Midway Arcade games.

Furthermore, we also had the opportunity to do an exclusive interview with TT Games Associate Producer Mark Warburton about the Midway Arcade Level Pack a few weeks ago. I took some questions from the readers and Mark graciously took the time to answer them which you can read below.

What was your favorite part of the Midway Arcade Level Pack? (Either the design of the toys or the in-game content)

To be honest I think both go hand in hand. The first time you see the LEGO toys and the fact that a handful of bricks can be rebuilt in to three different vehicles is quite an exciting moment. Then when you see the level itself and all these cool nods to the history of video games finally come together, it’s an amazing experience.

What other objects where considered besides the G-6155 Spy Hunter car and Defender cabinet?

All sorts of things are considered and it’s a lot of fun seeing what items those master builders at LEGO can come up with. … Continue

LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (75105) Wins 2016 Toy of the Year Award

The 2016 New York Toy Fair is over and done and after that, there were also the Toy of the Year awards given out to the best toys from last year. Not surprisingly, LEGO was again in the running for some awards including winning the “Boy Toy of the Year” for the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon (75105) which was the best toy developed specifically for boys of any age. If you haven’t checked out my in-depth review of it, you can read it here.

LEGO was also nominated for “Game of the Year” with LEGO Dimensions but lost out to the popular party Pie Face Game. Note that LEGO Dimensions was the only non-tradional tabletop game in the category.

Finally, Star Wars won “Property of the Year” for the licensor with the greatest success spreading its brand or property throughout the industry while generating interest and excitement. Obviously LEGO had some impact with the brand winning with all of the various LEGO Star Wars sets we got last year, especially with The Force Awakens sets.

LEGO had been in the running for various Toy of the Year awards in every year since the awards have been given out in 2000 and I won’t be surprised if they make the list again next year.

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Cyberman Fun Pack (71238) Review

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Cyberman Fun Pack (71238)

Continuing with another review of the LEGO Dimensions wave 3 sets that were recently released, I have in hand the Doctor Who Cyberman Fun Pack (71238). This expansion pack consists of 40 pieces and retails for $14.99. The box consists of two un-numbered bags and the minifigure instructions.

Minifigure

There is only one legit minifigure in this Fun Pack and that is the Cyberman which is based off the 2013 design. The torso has lots of gray and dark gray printing on both sides and also continues down to the legs while the whole minifigure itself is of a pearl silver color. The head is a new mold with the handles on top of the head and the tear drop printing for the eyes.

In-game, the Cyberman has many abilities including swimming, mind control, hacking, drone, x-ray vision, and silver blowup so it’s a pretty versatile character to use.

Build

The building part of the set is the Dalek. There are three different builds for the Dalek which include the regular version, the Fire ‘n Ride Dalek, and the Silver Shooter Dalek. Again, LEGO doesn’t provide the instructions in the box to build it but you can find them online.

For the regular Dalek, it has the distinct shape of the cyborg. For the top portion, there is a printed dome piece with a trans-blue eyestalk. In the midsection, you have a telescope piece representing the gunstick and an antenna for the manipulator arm. Finally for the bottom part, you have the skirt structure … Continue

LEGO Dimensions Doctors Collide Trailer

Stepping back from all the toy fair news, earlier today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment sent over a press release and a trailer video for LEGO Dimensions feature the different doctors in the game including the Twelvth Doctor from Doctor Who, Dr. Venkman from Ghostbusters, and Doc Brown from Back to the Future.

For the first time in any LEGO videogame, characters and vehicles from some of the biggest entertainment brands in the universe converge in LEGO® Dimensions™. In a new short trailer illustrating the game’s crazy, possible mash-ups, Dr. Venkman from Ghostbusters™, Doc Brown from Back to the Future™, and The Doctor from the long running British science fiction television series Doctor Who, unexpectedly come together.

Fans can play through individual levels based on these popular properties in the game’s main story. Players can also explore one distinct, freeplay Adventure World for each of these entertainment properties with any LEGO Dimensions minifigure belonging to that brand. Each Adventure World provides players access to additional gameplay content and exploration throughout some of the most iconic locations from each brand’s universe.

Ghostbusters fans who want to spookify their LEGO Dimensions experience beyond the Ghostbusters level in the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack can add the Ghostbusters Level Pack featuring “A Spook Central Adventure!” a mission-based Ghostbusters level where players must fight Gozer and save New York City. The pack comes with a buildable Peter Venkman LEGO minifigure and Proton Pack, Ecto-1 and Ghost Trap – all playable in the game. Players can replay through the game
