Marvel LEGO Comic Book Sketch Variant Covers

Marvel Universe: Avengers Assemble #1 Sketch Variant

For the past few months, we’ve been doing posts about some Marvel comic books that will be releasing in September to help promote the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game. These comic books will have variant covers that will feature characters as their LEGO counterparts. If you know anything about comic books, you’ll know that variant covers are priced higher than their standard cover versions. These variant versions will be going 1 in every 25 which means that for every regular issue the retailer orders, one copy will be of the variant variety. BleedingCool is reporting there will also be sketch variant covers for the Marvel comics as well. These covers are even rarer and will be around the 1 in every 100 copies or more. For example, the X-Men #5 sketch variant is going for at least $80 so it’ll get a bit costly if you’re trying to collect every single comic. If you’re a hardcore collector, check with your local comic book stores to see if they will be carrying any of these variant covers next month. I’ve called a few of the shops here in San Diego and they’re not sure if there will be enough demand for the regular copies of the comics to warrant any variant copies but we’ll see.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Next-Gen Video Game Details

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game Box Art

Digital Spy is reporting that the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game that will be coming out for the next generation systems will have absolutely no loading time, says TT Games Game Director Arthur Parsons. That’s right you future Playstation 4 and Xbox One owners, you will be able to play the game from one scene to the other without waiting. The reason is because the game will be reading off the hard drive and not the disc itself. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will also be running at a full 1080dp which means crystal clear, smooth gameplay.

For those who are deciding to get the game on the next-gen systems, unfortunately you won’t be getting the Iron Patriot bonus minifigure. For those who are getting it on the PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii U, there’s still time to pre-order from Walmart and get the bonus minifig. The game is set to be released in October for current generation systems and by the end of the year for the next-gen systems.

darth_tater over on Eurobricks has revealed the first wave of the 2014 LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes sets. There are no images except for The Riddler Chase (76012) as of this time. There are four sets in this wave and will be available late this year/early 2014.

The Penguin Face-Off (76010) – Minifigures include Batman, the Penguin, and two robot penguin henchmen. Batman comes with a jet-ski type vehicle and the Penguin has a duck-like flotation vehicle like the one in Batman Returns. This set is the smallest set of the wave.

Man-Bat Attack (76011) – Minifigures include Batman, Robin, and Man-Bat. Batman’s vehicle is a Batcopter looking vehicle. This is a small-to-medium sized set.

The Riddler Chase (76012) – Minifigures include Batman, the Flash, and the Riddler. Batman has a Batmobile and the Riddler has a green drag racer type vehicle. This set contains 304 pieces and will retail for $29.99. See more images below.

Thanks to Groove Bricks for the heads up.

Update: Rich over at Brick Fanatics reports that we will probably be seeing the Green Lantern minifigure in 2014. If that’s the case, then it’ll most likely be in the The Joker Steam Roller set since there was an unidentified hero from earlier … Continue

2013 San Diego Comic Con LEGO Super Heroes Minifigures Sold For $4000

The news for the 2013 San Diego Comic Con LEGO Super Heroes minifigures doesn’t end even after a month of the end of the event. You may remember that there was some controversy a week back about some of the attendees who insisted that the giveaway was rigged. Well, that didn’t stop a seller by the name of cohens714 on eBay of getting a hold of all four minifigures and having an auction for them and it was sold for $3999.00. What’s interesting is that the seller has relisted a similar auction going with a starting bid of $2999.00. This is somewhat suspicious because either he didn’t really “sell” the minifigures for $4000 and made a fake account to “buy” it out or he has multiples of each of the Super Heroes minifigures. If he does have multiples of the them, how did he get that many? What do you think actually happened and would you put down $4000 to buy these minifigures?
