The LEGO Ninjago Movie Sets Available at LEGOLAND California

We’re still a few weeks away from the official release of The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets but if you’re near LEGOLAND California, you can get your hands on them a little early. A user over on Reddit has found that LEGOLAND has already started putting out some of the sets including the Collectible Minifigures (71019).

If you’re nowhere close to LEGOLAND, don’t worry as they should start hitting store shelves at major retailers very soon. We’ll be reviewing all of the sets once they are available so stay tuned for that as it should be a very exciting time.

LEGOLAND California Expanding in 2017

Earlier today, LEGOLAND California announced the park will be expanding next year and in the next few years. The first thing that was announced by General Manager Peter Ronchetti was that the LEGOLAND Hotel will be having LEGO Ninjago themed rooms which will open in Spring 2017.

Speaking of the themed rooms, the Kingdom themed rooms at the hotel have become so popular that LEGOLAND will be building a new LEGO Castle Hotel. Construction will begin next year and will open in 2019 in front of the Sea Life Aquarium.

Probably the biggest news of the day, at least for me, is the expansion of the LEGO Star Wars Miniland. Opening in March 2017 just ahead of Star Wars Days, the area will have a new area for Episode VII: The Force Awakens. There will be six scenes from the first 30 minutes of the film including Kylo Ren’s capture of Poe Dameron at Jakku, Rey’s rescue of BB-8, and Poe and Finn’s escape from the Star Destroyer Finalizer. With an expansion at a limited space, The Force Awakens area will be replacing the Clone Wars Christophsis scene.

Finally, the water park will also be expanding with a new area called Surfer’s Bay. There will be a water slide with six lanes going 17 feet high and more than 100 feet of track. There will also be an area where water is sprayed up from the ground where kids can run through called the “spray ground.”

LEGO Star Wars Rebel A-Wing Pilot (5004408) Available at LEGOLAND California as Star Wars Days Promo

LEGO Star Wars Rebel A-Wing Pilot

A couple of weeks back, it was revealed that there was a new LEGO Star Wars Rebel A-Wing Pilot (5004408) minifigure polybag. There was no details on how to obtain it until today. My friend John was at LEGOLAND California today for Star Wars Days and one of the promotions in the shop was a free gift with purchase of $30 or more on any LEGO products which was the Rebel A-Wing Pilot.

As of this point, this weekend is the only way to obtain the minifigure that I know of so if you know any people who live close by to LEGOLAND California, you may want to ask them to pick it up for you. I’ll let you guys know if this polybag will be available anywhere else.

The LEGO Movie 4D A New Adventure Opens at LEGOLAND California February 6

LEGOLAND California - The LEGO Movie A 4D Adventure

Yesterday, I was invited as part of the press to LEGOLAND California for the premiere of The LEGO Movie 4D A New Adventure which will be opening to the public on February 6th. When I got there, we checked in at the front gate and was whisked in shortly after. There was a whole red carpet set up where kids and adults were able to take pictures with some of the main characters from The LEGO Movie like Emmet, Wyldstyle, Benny, and Unikitty. There I also ran into my friend Mariann from Model Building Secrets who was also doing her coverage of the event. After the red carpet, there was food stands set up where we could grab what ever we wanted to snack on.

As for the 4D Adventure itself, it is new attraction the 425-seat theater that incorporates effects like wind, rain, and fog to what you see on the screen. The story is pretty neat as the main characters end up in a mysterious theme park called Brick World which is ran by Lord Business’ brother, Risky Business, who voiced by actor and comedian Patton Oswalt. From what I saw, both kids and adults were digging the 12 1/2-minute film as it was very enjoyable throughout.

After the film, there was a post-screening Q&A which had The LEGO Group’s vice president of licensing and entertainment and producer of The LEGO Movie Jill Wilfert and Joshua Wexler from Pure Imagination Studios as the guests. Wilfert gave fans some details of what LEGO projects we … Continue

A few hours ago, LEGOLAND California announced the latest addition to the theme park with the new LEGO Ninjago Land which will be opening in spring 2016. The main attraction will be the LEGO Ninjago The Ride where riders will be able to use hand gestures to send elements at a 3D screen. The ride will also use 4D technology effects like heat, smoke, and wind to give riders an interactive experience. Head on over to The San Diego Union-Tribune to see a video on how the ride will function.

The ride will be part of an one-acre attraction which will be behind the Imagination Zone and it will also includes a training camp. There will be games and activities that will let attendees “train” to be a ninja. Also in store is a shopping venue and Asian cuisine.

The LEGOLAND Ninjago Land is part of ongoing attractions to the part with the expansion of Star Wars Miniland, Heartlake City, and the Legends of Chima water park.

Star Wars Days 2015 took place at LEGOLAND California this past weekend and there were some new things at the park this year. One thing is the massive 500,000 LEGO brick Death Star model at the LEGO Star Wars Miniland area. To give you some perspective, it stands 13 feet high and 8 feet wide weighing more than 1,900 pounds. Overall Star Wars Days 2015 at LEGOLAND California was another cool event that I was able to attend. Unfortunately I did was unable to stay as long as I wanted and missed photos of some of the MOCs. Be sure to click through the smaller images to see a larger version of it. Hopefully I can do it again when next year rolls around. Full disclosure, I was able to attend the event courtesy of a very good friend.
