Minifigure

The set does come with an exclusive Mickey Mouse minifigures. Here we see him with some teal overalls that is spattered with paint. The head is the usual Mickey head that we’ve seen before. His accessories include a brush and a palatte. He does also come with a white baseplate.

Build

The build begins with the smaller display frame with the Disney 100 logo in Mickey Mouse’s usual colors which is provided by the initial group of builds. I’ll explain more about that later on. The 2×6 tile is a printed piece.

The larger frame is somewhat tedious to put together as you build the same thing a few times. Inside the frame are nine slots for the plates to go in. Each slot has only four studs to attach the plates to so you can easily pop them out. You can even hang it up as there is a mounting bracket plate at the top.

LEGO provides you with 72 Disney designs that are grouped with in sets of 12 to make use of the various parts provided. Unless you want to add your own parts, you have to build the ones in the set or else you won’t have enough parts for the other panels in a particular set.

The designs on the panels are very recognizable whether it be the Disney characters or of objects from various movies. The instructions give you the steps for the first 12 and the rest are on the LEGO Builder App.

Results

Overall the LEGO 100 Years of Disney Animation Icons (43221) is a fun little set and it gives kids a lot of variety on what they can build. The number of different builds that can be done is very good but there are limits to what you can build given the parts provided. The number of builds per group is a little weird because 10 plates are on the two frames and two are just left over. Essentially you can only have 10 things displayed while the other two are just sitting somewhere. I don’t understand that at a design aspect.
