The LEGO Pirates theme is usually a popular theme in LEGO’s history and any Pirates sets that LEGO releases is a welcome addition. The latest one to be released is the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Iconic Pirate Ship (31387). It has 1,074 pieces and retails for $109.99. As with the Creator 3-in-1 sets, there are three different builds using the same parts but we’re just focusing on the main build.

Minifigures
There are five minifigures in the set, two male pirates and two female pirates. The captain wears a red jacket with a white ruffle in the front. The belt strap printing is present on both the front and back of the torso. The leg is the usual Pirate one where the right leg has a wooden peg. His accessory is a sword and a cup.

The other male pirate wears a torn blue and white shirt that doesn’t cover his compass and anchor tattoos. He has dual molded legs for his shorts. His accessory is a pistol.

The first female pirate wears a white shirt with a brown vest. Her legs have some printing of a teal cloth that is tied around the waist. Her double-sided head shows her with a smirk on one side and a winking expression on the other. Her accessories include a sword and a treasure map.

The other female has on a black sleeveless shirt with a red striped scarf around the neck. There is also printing of a belt with a skull on the torso. Her double-sided head shows her with a smirk on one side and a scared expression on the other. Her accessory is a pistol.

The last minifigure is the usal skeleton that we see in Pirates sets. It is seen holding a pearl-gold telescope.

Build
As part of the main Pirate ship build, the first thing you build is the red octopus. Nothing too interesting here but it does use some rare red toilet seats for the eyes.

For the ship itself, it has your usual pirate ship look and is similar to the 31109 version from 2020 which had 1,264 pieces.

In front of the ship, there’s a small bowsprit with a sail connected to it. Right behind it is a functional anchor that you can raise or lower using the winch.

On the deck, it is seemingly plain with a barrel on the side. When you lift up the grate, you can access the two working cannons and a stash of four cannonballs. There are four gunport doors so you can arrange the cannons on either side of the ship.

Heading towards the back of the ship, we have the captain’s cabin tht has a chair and a desk. Nothing much too interesting here but you can open up the sides to get easy access.

Below that, the rudder has a secret modular build that pulls out to reveal a treasure chest that holds some gold and jewels.

At the quarterdeck, there’s a steering wheel with a couple of lanterns behind it.

Lastly we have the brick-built sails with the front one with the crow’s nest having a skull on it.

There are two other builds in the set which include the buccaneer’s castle that has a tower. The other build are for two smaller ships that are represented by red and blue skull sails.

Results
LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets usually give a good amount of play with the three builds and the Iconic Pirate Ship (31387) is no exception. Obviously, most who get this set will have the pirate ship built but the other two builds are also pretty good as well. Although the price of the set is less than the previous one, it also has less parts and that actually raises the price per piece ratio slightly.
