LEGO Creator Detective’s Office (10246) Modular Revealed

LEGO Creator Detective Office (10246)

Way back in August, we reported that a LEGO Creator Detective’s Office Modular building was rumored to be released in January 2015. Some thought this rumor was total hogwash but today we can now say the rumor has been has now been confirmed.

Over on Eurobricks, there is now a picture of the LEGO Creator Detective’s Office Modular (10246) revealed via LowLUG. According to the November 2014 LEGO Store Calendar, this set is supposed to be revealed this Friday, November 21.

The Detective’s Office (10246) has 2262 pieces and contains three floors with the main building being the agency being above a pool hall. The other buildings include a small apartment/condo complex and a barbershop next to it. There is no official pricing on it at this point but it was rumored to retail for £132.99.

So what do you guys think of the new LEGO Creator Detective’s Office (10246) Modular now that there’s an image of the set?

Update: There’s now an image of the back of the box via akunthita on BrickLink. It has been noted from different sources that the Detective’s Office will be displayed at this Saturday’s Exclusive VIP Shopping Event.

Looks great. Wonder what set will retire for this to take its place?

The Grand Emporium (10211) and the Town Hall (10244) has been going in and out on Shop@Home the past few months. I think those are are next to be officially retired.

what about the pet shop? that’s older than the town hall.

pet shop (2011) town hall (2012)

I agree. the detective agency is really similar with the half and half building, so it seems like the pet shop is being replaced.

Yes, quite clear that both are retiring – the lego shop has them both as “sold out” and they were due for retirement.

Most likely will be the Town Hall. It’s the largest, most expensive of the modular buildings, and doesn’t sell as well as the other currently-available models.

Awh… That’s sad. People will never get to enjoy it like I did…

Is this also a Pool Hall? the neon sign says “Pool”…would make sense to have it next to a barber shop.

    • Allen

      Yep!

    • Fiona

      great neon light 🙂

Very cool, only thing i observed is that the left side of the modular only has 2 floors, not 2 like the right side of it. Was hoping both buildings would be 3 floors each. But can’t wait to get it

At last! Thanks for the images and info. I love the design and the detail looks incredible BUT I don’t like the mix of colours and this building looks American rather than European, so it will be interesting to see how well it fits alongside other modulars.

Is that a lady in red next to the pool hall?

Notice the red and white awning for the Barber shop. The reason why these colours are used and on a pole is because barbers once bled people when they were ill. That is what the shaving knife is about. The red on the pole is for the blood and the white for the bandages they wrapped the arm up in after the act. Nice set.

I was hoping for a remixed version of one of the first three sets. The café is ugly from behind and needs furniture, but these first three sets still go for thousands on Amazon. Not fair for those of us who missed out. I really, REALLY want the Greengrocer. At least I cannot complain with 10246. It has so many features.

Hate this set. Just outright hate it. It has no consistent style, doesn’t fit with others in the series, and is a terribly disappointing signal for the future of modular sets. The modular sets clearly say on the box 16+, right? Why do we need a storyline? Storylines are for the smaller childrens’ sets. Why should we be compromised on detail, space inside the building, consistency with other sets, just so you can have an eight year old try to push a box of cookies through the back door and break everything? These sets are about detail, and they are for display and expert builders. The people being targeted by this set do not require a storyline. If a minority do, then they can build it in themselves if they are ‘experts’. I would be interested to see if anyone shares my viewpoint or at least some of it.
