A few months ago, it was revealed that there would be a new LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes polybag featuring Cosmic Boy (30604). Today, Nerdist has a new exclusive trailer for the LEGO DC Comics Superheroes – Justice League: Cosmic Clash direct-to-video Blu-Ray/DVD. In the trailer, the movie introduces the members of the Legion of Super-Heroes including Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, and Saturn Girl as well as new villains like Vandal Savage and Captain Fear. We already have Lightning Lad from the Target LEGO 2015 Minifigure Box Set (5004077) and included with this movie is Cosmic Boy.
One thing LEGO has done differently with this minifigure is that it’s not in a clamshell like previous movies. This is a bummer for polybag collectors as you’ll probably want to get two copies of Cosmic Boy so you can open one of them and keep one sealed. The Blu-Ray/DVD will be available on March 1 while the Digital HD version will be available on February 9. Now we just need a Saturn Girl minifigure and the founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes will be complete…

Well, the original founders of the Legion will be complete. The Legion itself, however, has far, far more members … 🙂 Nonetheless, looking forward to this movie and minifigure!
Um…are we _sure_ this minifig will be clamshelled? We’ve already seen pics of a Cosmic Boy polybag, which seems highly unlikely if it’s exactly the same contents. More likely, the inclusion of three radar dishes forced them to go all Hobbit2:EE and slip a normal polybag in instead of the clamshell.

Ah, makes more sense now anyways. Regardless, it’s not an issue for me. Except for LEGO Batman: The Movie, I’ve bought at least three copies of every LDC DVD. One minifig goes on display, one goes into the show kit, and the other one stays sealed. Except I bought a fourth Trickster just for the hair.
And if you preorder them on Amazon, the cost is heavily discounted, so it doesn’t hurt as much.
