Not to outdo the earlier post of the LEGO Ideas Doctor Who (21304) set, LEGO Ideas has revealed the set over on their blog in which we can also see the cool box art for the set as well as the official description. Again, the set will be available on December 1st at a recommended retail price of $59.99 but we can expect Toys R Us to be a little higher than that.
Construct a stunningly detailed LEGO® version of the iconic TARDIS® and role-play the Doctor’s time-travel adventures! Created by fan-designer Andrew Clark and selected by LEGO Ideas members, this set is based on the BBC’s popular and long-running television series about a Time Lord – the Doctor – exploring the universe in a blue police box. Due to trans-dimensional engineering, the TARDIS is bigger on the inside than the outside and this cool multifunctional set includes the console room that houses all the flight controls. Regenerate the Doctor and defeat the evil Daleks™ and a Weeping Angel with the help of his extraordinary companion Clara. Then close the doors of the TARDIS and launch into another dimension! Includes 4 minifigures with assorted accessory elements: the Eleventh Doctor, the Twelfth Doctor, Clara Oswald and a Weeping Angel, plus 2 Daleks™.

This is a Day One buy for me for sure. However, must admit that I am a bit disappointed that it isn’t going to be the minifigures from the original IDEAS proposal. Although I’ve come to like Clara I consider her one of the most dispensable of the New Who companions, and would have preferred to see another represented. Since the 11th Doctor is here, why not Amy Pond? Also, I am very tired of seeing that hairpiece used on Clara in every. single. set. Not sure the hairpiece on 11th Dr. quite captures his look. That said, the minifigures are well done. I think the console looks grand and the TARDIS itself is lovely too. I’m really hoping that, due to the arrangement with Dimensions, Dr. Who becomes a full theme (like Scooby Doo and the possible Ghostbusters themes), which might give us a shot at getting some alternative Doctors, companions, and monsters. A Dalek/Cybermen battle pack would move some serious units, I’m thinking.
I agree that the hairpiece used on Clara is WAY overused. I’m over that hairpiece.
Dalek eyes should be blue
Fortunately, it’s Lego, so we can fix that. 🙂
I was hoping for Tennant, for no other reason than he is the coolest doctor. Clara is my favourite companion, so there is that… although I am liking Peter Capaldi quite a bit…
However, regardless of the Doctor, this is a great set and an immediate purchase.
I get that Clara was used as the companion to bridge the two doctors together, but I would have much rather seen Amy Pond (and Rory!). But who knows? If this set proves popular enough, perhaps more Who will be coming down the pike … and a Torchwood set?
This was based on one specific special, so Amy Pond wasn’t going to happen even though she made a brief appearance in Time of the Doctor.
My hope is they will revisit this license with a set based on the 50th Anniversary Special. That would give them the opportunity to include 10, 11, The War Doctor, And Rose Tyler!
We all have our opinions lol! I understand why they put the two most-recent Docs in the set, but I really don’t like the 11th doctor. (I’m very happy they did not put Amy Pond in this set!) I also really dislike what the showrunner has turned the Weeping Angles into. The first episode was okay, but then it got ridiculous.
12th and Clara were awful last season, but this season so far has been great. The Daleks look great. TARDIS looks great. I hope they make more doctors. If they were to make more, I feel 10th Doctor has the best chance.
So does the 12th only have a one sided face? It looks like that in the Dimensions set and this one…
i’m really not a fan of the new doctor or clara, all i want is a tenant and rose…
It was just so much better because it still had the good writer, it had david tenant a world class actor and billy piper who wasn’t a great actor at first but quickly got a lot better
the most recent two are the first decent episodes I’ve seen since david
Seeing this set (and also all the new Star Wars sets) makes me even more sad that Hasbro has the license for the Star Trek universe.
