The LEGO Ideas Winter 2014 results have been revealed on the LEGO Ideas blog. Just as we predicted, the Female Minifigure Set by Ellen Kooijman (Alatariel) will indeed be the next official LEGO Ideas set and the set will be named “Research Institute.” Although the final design is still being worked out, we do know the set number will be 21110 and will most likely retail for $19.95. It has a projected release of August 2014 which is on or around the same time as the Exo Suit (21109).
All the other projects in the Winter 2014 Review Stage will not be produced which includes Sherlock, Macross VF-1 Valkyrie, Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter, Japanese Old Style Architecture, The Adventure Time Project, and the BTTF – UCS DeLorean Time Machine.
The first LEGO Review Stage of 2014 is currently being reviewed and the results will be available late summer/early fall. The projects that are in review are LEGO Bird Project, Modular Apple Store, BTTF – Jules Verne Train, Doctor Who, Big Bang Theory, and Doctor Who and Companions.

Disappointed to say the least, this was the least exciting set out of all the sets in the review period, at least for me. Would have liked to have seen either Sherlock or Legend of Zelda made into a set, they were really the only two sets that could have realistically been made into minifigure-scale sets anyway, while retaining the original design as such. It seems to me this was done just so that they could get more ideas sets out and have a steady rate of them releasing, rather than doing a set that more people would be interested in. It makes little sense that LEGO would deny Legend of Zelda 3 times, it is in demand and yet they don’t produce it? If it’s a licensing issue they shouldn’t allow you to post the projects to even begin with.. I’ve always seen it as more of a AFOL/TFOL site anyway, I’m just not sure who will buy this set, as again, LEGO could have easily made this a sub-theme of City. Wasted potential.
JasonEulpe I agree. Looks like Lego Ideas was playing it safe. I could be wrong but wasn’t the Female reserch set from like one of the reviews before this last one and they said we are still looking into it . Its almost like they saw what was going to go under review this time around and saved the Girl minifigure set because they knew they were not going to make any of these sets in the first place. Sad day for Lego Ideas I guess this set will be as big as the Lame mars rover. I guess they realized if they do make a zelda set the world would explode. I hope to god we don’t get Bigbang and Doc Who over Zelda That would just be so depressing.
It’s good to know that Lego is still willing to do non-licensed Cuusoo/Ideas.
