So, on sale are a bunch of watches, keychains, big figures and clocks, but very little in the way of actual Lego sets. To quote the interwebs, this promotion is getting more and more “meh”.
What? I count around twenty regular LEGO Star Wars sets that are going to be on sale.
I count
8 sets
2 micro sets
2 Battle packs
10 Big figs
1 Magnet
9 Keychains
4 Watches
4 Books
4 Clocks
Even including the battle packs and micro sets we’re only up to 12 Lego sets of 44 items. With only a couple exceptions, this is a list of all the things they can’t sell. Combined with the fact they are offering an ‘exclusive’ figure no one needs, this is the most lack luster May the 4th ever. No thanks, try again next year.
Why aren’t Micro Fighters, battle packs, and buildable figures sets? They have five digit product numbers, use standard LEGO pieces, and have instruction booklets. Even discounting the “lack” of sales, the double VIP points on all Star Wars products and low threshold for the “exclusive” figure make this year’s May 4th weekend a pretty good value. Ended up getting the Assault on Hoth and Slave I, that’s almost 900 VIP points.
Build-able figures don’t use standard pieces. I counted the micro sets and battle packs. It’s still a list of all the things that aren’t selling, sets or no sets.
And if Lego is going to do a variant, don’t do a variant of a uniformed soldier. Operative word being uniform. It’s just a bad choice.
Double points are nice, but double points is still only a 10% discount.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against Lego Star Wars, but it they’re going to do an event, they could easily sweeten the pot.
Just a note, some of your prices and sale prices listed on the chart are incorrect, such as the C-3PO key chain. I sure hope it isn’t $30! XD
I saw the similar article from FTBT, which additionally said the imperial shuttle 75094 is also on the list…Which one is correct?
75094 is supposed to be on the list. Was wondering the same thing, so I checked my 3rd source toysnbrick and it’s shown there for $79.
The First Order Stormtrooper minifig (30602) promo is not unique, the sets on sale are still a bit high for what they are, only thing interesting is the new Assault on Hoth, which is a misnomer, as you can’t assault the base as they don’t sell an At-At any longer. Got to build/play with that in store today, did not buy anything though, Assault on Hoth will be around for a long time….
