LEGO has just announced the newest direct-to-consumer set with the LEGO Minecraft The Village (21128). This set will contain 1,600 pieces and will retail for $199.99. LEGO Minecraft is the newest theme to get a D2C set when it is released on May 18 for VIPs and June 1 for the general public. 3 straight underwhelming exclusive sets so far in 2016. Mostly due to price. LEGO better start allowing retailer discounts again.
I understand Lego is and always will be a top notch toy. the cost it takes to create design and retail while still producing new features must be tremendous. I usually am impressed with Legos ability to excel towards the future. But this set sadly looks like a major step back ( don’t get me started on the thought of Disney Minifigures) well it’s been fun collecting the past decade
