In my last review of the 2023 LEGO Ninjago sets, we take a look at the Creative Ninja Brick Box (71787). It has 530 pieces and retails for $59.99.
There are six minifigures in the set, Nya, Kai, Master Wu, Male Apprentice, Female Apprentice, and Bone Hunter. Nya is in her blue and gray Core outfit which is the same one as in a few other sets in this wave. Her double-sided head shows her with a smile on one side and a stern expression on the other. Her accessory is a golden sword.
Kai is also a reused minifigure but from the last year’s Ninjago sets. His Core outfit has some fire printing on both sides of the torso. His double-sided head shows him with a bandage on top of one eye and he has nervous and angry expressions. His accessory is also a golden sword.
This version of Master Wu is also in last year’s set but this set is the cheaper way to get him. He has a tan robe instead of the usual white one. His accessory is a brown staff.
The Male Apprentice has on a new torso with some red printing on bobth sides of the torso. His double-sided head show him with a smile on one side and a determined look on the other. His accessories include a sword and some nunchucks.
The Female Apprentice has on the same outfit as the male. Her double-sided head has a smiling and stern expressions. Her accessory is just a sword.
The Bone Hunter is in his usual chain outfit that we’ve seen many times already.
The Creative Ninja Brick Box is more of a larger accessory set for the theme. It has a lot of smaller builds to enhance other builds. One of these items is a sleek ninja car for Kai. It looks like a smaller version of the X-1 Ninja Charger but changed to a polybag style car. There are two stud shooters in the front and uses a printed dashboard slope.
Nya’s ninja motorcycle is an even more simplier build than the car. I think I’ve seen a bike similar to this before.
There are three racks filled with tools and weapons. They’re built almost exactly the same but the tools rack only has two items.
There are also three training objects which include some log steppers, a training dummy, and a dual spinning punching bag. The log steppers have various heights with some fire below and shooting sideways.
The training dummy is equipped with a sai and a sword and can spin around. The spinning punching bags are attached to a beam that is connected with a pin in the middle. Once you spin it, it does have quite a bit of momentum.
Lastly there are three different sized temples. The smaller one is used for a tea ceremony. There’s a printed dragon round tile near the roof area.
The second temple is where a forge is at. On the anvil is a golden sword forged by the hammer in front of the anvil.
The largest temple of the three doesn’t really have much going on. There are two printed banner at the entrance and the dragon tile at the roof.
Although the LEGO Ninjago Creative Ninja Brick Box (71787) doesn’t have any one thing that stands out, everything looks good collectively. It does add a lot more your existing Ninjago builds with the training obstacles. The two vehicles look sort of out of place here as most of the builds are structure related. One thing to note is that all the builds have their own instruction booklet so technically seven people can build it at the same time if you wanted. Another nice thing is that you can pack away all the sets already assembled inside the red brick box.
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
