There will be a new LEGO Scooby-Doo! original movie coming out on on Blu-Ray/DVD next month called LEGO Scooby-Doo!: Blowout Beach Bash. It doesn’t look like there will be an exclusive minifigure included like the previous movie (Haunted Hollywood) but the Blu-Ray itself contains some of the original Scooby-Doo cartoon episodes including Go Away Ghost Ship, A Clue for Scooby-Doo, and Party Like It’s 1899.
The movie will be available starting July 25.
Scooby-Doo! and his pals Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy are no strangers to solving spooky mysteries filled with all types of ghouls and goblins. This time is no different. As Scooby-Doo! and his friends are on their way to Blowout Beach for a real swinging beach party in the Mystery Machine, the Ghost Pirates threaten to ruin the gang’s good vibes. It is up to Scooby and the gang to get the party back on track, without missing a beat.

Why does this need to be a LEGO Movie again?
I can’t recall if/why the first one needed to be a LEGO film, but I own all the LSW and LDC films, and I know some of them don’t work as non-LEGO stories. What surprises me is that they’re doing a second film when I don’t think you can find a single set at retail anymore. Also, I just realized that the initials for LEGO Scooby-Doo are LSD.
I think they missed the boat with not having a promo figure. In the age of streaming videos, many people (like my wife) don’t want physical items taking up room in the house. An exclusive figure is always a nice bonus and shouldn’t cost too much to produce.
Exclusives are my only incentive to pick up physical versions of any of these films / magazines. Especially since I’m definitely not the intended audience usually.
