LEGO The Simpsons Series 13 Collectible Minifigures Confirmed For May 2014

As we reported last month, there was a rumor that the Series 13 of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line could be based on The Simpsons characters. Today, Nerdly.co.uk has confirmed that rumor to be true. In May 2014, Series 13 of the Collectible Minifigures line will be based on 16 Simpsons characters including Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, Itchy and Scratchy, and a few more of the animated TV show’s characters will be released. Nerdly also reports that the only LEGO system set to be released in the first quarter of 2014 will be the Simpsons House on 742 Evergreen Terrace which will be available direct-to-consumers at LEGO brand stores and on Shop@Home in April 2014. Finally in May 2014, there will be a special LEGO Simpsons TV episode, very similar to LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace and The Empire Strikes Out. The Simpsons’ director David Silverman has also confirmed the news via Twitter:

    Simpons sucks…

This sucks and will ruin Lego!! The simpsons are that think toilets flush the opposite way on the other side of the planet! I think this is a very ba idea and that they should go back to making NORMAL Lego minifigures

Yes and No on the toilet flush! You are correct in the sense that toilet bowls are designed to rotate one direction. But, water does have the tendency to rotate the opposite way on opposing hemispheres due to the coriolis effect. I don’t understand how this might ‘ruin’ lego. Star Wars didn’t ‘ruin’ lego, Toy Story didn’t ruin Lego. I think Lego is smart to branch out to genre’s that has great cult followings like the Simpsons.
In 2011, sales for the company grew 11%, rising from $2.847 billion
in 2010 to $3.495 billion in 2011. Profit for 2011 fiscal year increased
from $661 million to $776 million. The increased profit was due to the
enormous popularity of the new brand Ninjago, which became the company’s biggest product introduction ever.
2012 saw a 25% rise in revenue over the previous year. More than 60% of its profit was helped by new product launches such as Friends.
It was also reported that The LEGO Group had become the world’s most valuable toy company ahead of Mattel with a value at over $14.6 billion.
I doubt this will ‘ruin’ anything. Please check your facts before you use the word “retard”.

I’ll give the Simpsons Lego minifigs a miss. My wallet will thank me, no doubt.

i can’t believe this. They are taking away proper figures for SIMPSONS figures. WILL Lego ever create there own minifigures again?

  7. Jeremy Fitz-Sheftick

I think this is annoying… I’m ok with them making Simpson sets but to take the minifigure series is just not cool… It’s not like they have made all the minifigures they can make, there are still endless possibilities! Oh well… My wallets kinda needs a break… I just hope this is the only licensed series!

  8. Liam Lazarski

I’ll skip the series. there are so many more ideas that LEGO can have, like a rasta man or a bricklayer or a variable or opposite of the figures that they have already made. like this comment so people can see that this won’t be a hit

Boy. I can’t wait until Series 14. I guess I can take a break from checking bags for a while.

Oh good, now I have a good reason to tell my kids they can’t buy any more minifigures! Thank you for saving me some money, Lego!

I also will not be getting an entire set of the simpsons mini figures. I’m not a fan of the show at all. I also agree, the figures should stay the way they were. Doing a set for their movie made sense i guess, it was THEIR movie, but the Simpsons? Not so much. i’ll get a few just to have them, but i’ll not open them and I’ll not have a set. I’ll wait and hope for series 14 to be better.
