While working on our LEGO Star Wars 2013 Advent Calendar post, I was surfing the advent calendar minisite and in the prizes tab, I found a poster for the new 2014 LEGO Star Wars Microfighters. There’s been a debate in the LEGO community on the subtheme. Some people like it, others don’t. For me, the Microfighters are the 2014 Star Wars sets I’m most excited for. What are your guys’ thoughts on them and will you be picking any of them up?

I believe what will make or break these Microfighters is ultimately the price point. I can’t quite see these going for the same retail as the preceding Planets did simply because those had two big sphere halves (which is a lot of plastic), and $10 is slighty less than a battlepack with four minifigures and enough parts for a decent build.
With that said, I do like these a bit more than the Planets seeing how everything is totally usable in anything, minifigures are good (couple of which are exclusive it appears), and I can see myself buying more than a couple of certain ones for army building purposes well as gaining more bricks.
I believe they will be selling for $10 and I think that is a really good price point especially for the pieces included. I’m most excited for these than the regular sets.
