LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet (75277)

Some of the new sets that LEGO has recently released are the LEGO Star Wars Helmets and the first one I want to take a look at is the Boba Fett Helmet (75277). It has 625 pieces and retails for $59.99. It seems to be pretty popular right now as it is already on backorder status as of this writing. The contents of the box include five numbered bags and the instructions.

Box

First off, I will say that the box has a collector’s feel to it. It has a matte feel to it all around and the helmet itself is slightly embossed and has a slick feel. With these specialty type sets including the upcoming UCS A-wing Starfighter (75275), it makes it more collectible just because of the box.

Build

For the build itself, it is really straight-forward with each numbered bag going for each section of the Boba Fett helmet. The first bag gives you the base of the helmet which has studs on the sides generously spread out mainly through the red 1 x 2 x 1 2/3 bricks. There are also some sand-green parts for the top of the helmet. It’s ugly but you don’t see any of it at the end.

Bag 2 is for the display stand which is a good size in comparison to the size of the helmet. There are also parts for the back side of the helmet made up of dark green and dark red parts.

Next up, we have one side of the helmet. The top part is created by stacking a lot of yellow and sand-green 1×2 and 1×1 plates that are on a clip that connects to the inside bar. Although it isn’t much, it’s tedious if you’re a perfectionist and want to line them up straight. The rest of the area has side detailing of the helmet.

The fourth bag fills out the other side of the helmet but this time it uses tan and gray parts. Again, this is pretty faithful to the source material although it isn’t as detailed.

For the last bag, we fill out the front part of the helmet and it uses sections that are clipped on to give it an angled look. Without that, it would look too blocky and I’m glad the designers made it this way. Finally we have the ranngefinder and targeting display.

Results

The LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet (75277) is my favorite one out of the three that have been released so far. When I was building it, I was a little bit skeptical that it wouldn’t turn out good but the end result is a great representation of the the iconic helmet. It is also bigger than I expected it to be but it does make a good display piece.

The downside of the set to most is probably the price. It is a tad bit high for what you get but I think LEGO is banking on the collectibility aspect of it. The box is higher quality than the regular system sets so that could have also factored into the higher price.

Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
