Their website is unusable right now. I’ve been trying to checkout the last 20 minutes. I almost got it to but it crashed and I’m back to square one now. Lego, let me give you my money!!

    • ToddG

I got all the way through payment verification and it crashed. No confirmation email, but my card’s been charged. So… I maybe got one?

Edit: Oh, and of course the order status page is inaccessible.

      • The Fett

Count your blessings if you did! The stupid site keeps logging me out and now I’m unable to log in and verify I’m VIP. I think Lego is taking product launch advice from Nintendo…

*Lego next month* “We have heard community feedback about the lack of supply for the set, and have decided to cancel the set.

          • Chad

Nintendo actually released some news recently that blamed their third-party manufacturer, and they are bringing back the NES classic next year. I just wish they’d said that months ago.

          • Reaven Veaceslav

The fact that they initially said they were outright cancelling it, and only now are going back on that and blaming someone else following all the backlash indicates to me that they’re the ones at fault, and they’re trying to save face.

      • Lock

If they got your money then it’s confirmed. Email arrives after a few hours. Congrats! 🙂

        • ToddG

Yeah, I finally got into order status and there it is! They overcharged me, though, apparently there was a bug where it was charging a $40 shipping fee, but my order page shows $0. I’m sure they’ll straighten it out.

          • Lock

Website got lot of problems today. Most of Lego Star Wars fan were refreshing the page this morning. 🙂
Just contact the support and let them solve the issue.

    • Chad

Same here, I’ve been kicked out of the confirmation page three times, no credit card charge, though.

      • Chad

Finally got through, panicked and backordered a second one. Now I have to drive two hours to return one of them to a store (assuming they don’t cancel one of or both orders).

        • The Fett

Congrats! I got one too finally. I see the charge on my paypal so I’m pretty sure I’m set. I’m sure you could call lego and have one of those cancelled before they ship. Definitely worth a try to spare yourself that drive.

          • ModifiedJason

Its currently a limit of 1, so they’ll cancel the second anyhow.

          • Chad

Correct, they cancelled it. The sad bit is they cancelled the first of the two, so now I’m on backorder.

        • leggot

they won’t take sets this big back at the store, saw them turn someone away with a batcave last night, was still in the shopathome box

Does backordered mean you miss the cuttoff for the black VIP card?

    • ModifiedJason

No, that is a promo through 2017 “while supplies last”.

    • Lock

If I’m not wrong the VIP card should be for the first 20,000 orders. Don’t know if worldwide or not.

  3. ModifiedJason

Ordered, but already showing “backorder”. That went fast…

Here in the UK it went ‘live’ at 07:30. I dutifully set my alarm and logged in at 07:25.

I managed to add one to my basket, redeem some VIP points, and made it to the delivery/billing address page.

Then the whole thing froze, I got to the same stage a couple of times, sometimes not that far.

Every time I tried to go to the payment page nothing happened.

I reloaded a few times over the next two hours, same frozen pages.

Until finally, at 09:30, I was greeted by the message

    “OUT OF STOCK”.

    Ballocks.

    • Reaven Veaceslav

That’s an interesting idea. Let people pay a little extra to pre-order sets that Lego is then obligated to send you. That way, Lego knows that a certain number of people are going to buy it, and they can produce it normally after that without as many complaints and backlash.

I wasn’t sure when the promotion would occur for US so I logged in almost every hour prior to them actually opening up. At one point at 730am CST for me I was like, screw this, it’s clearly not happening. The UK region had already sold out and the US region wasn’t even showing the promotion. I wrote Lego a comment about how I’ve sold a ton of stuff on craigslist and had been waiting for this moment for a while but was disappointed how it turned out.
I just so happened to login 5-10 minutes later and BOOM. The promotion was there now and I clicked order and for the next TWO hours I had the item in my bag but couldn’t get past the billing. A couple of times I logged out and couldn’t get back in but eventually the servers acquiesced and low and behold my item was still in the bag. I bought it while I was driving to work, it was the most gratifying thing.
Just got the email confirmation and they’ve charged my CC. They removed the $40 they were going to charge for shipping so all I paid for was item and tax.
Not sure if I got the VIP card. Who knows? Doesn’t matter, I’ve been trying to get an UCS MF that wasn’t $1890190190 for a long time and I finally got my chance!!!

    • ModifiedJason

I think everyone gets the black VIP card. The official site says its a promotion through the end of December while supplies last. And it will be printed with your current VIP number on it and mailed to you in ~6 weeks. I’d assume they plan on having at least 40,000 cards if not more.

tried the web page from 6:50-7:30, went from add to wish list to backorerdered, S@H sold 11,000 units in a few seconds, was on the way to a local store and checked the web page and was able to finalize my order for a backordwr, ships within 30 days…

  7. Le Goat

Allen, any idea why Shop@Home doesn’t allow backorders for this anymore? Presumably they will have more available… eventually. Why cut off backorders?

I think I’m going to sit out this particular madness this time around….

  9. myscrnnm

Wow, what an absolute nightmare. This was my first time using S@H, as I usually prefer buying in a Brand Store. But everything I’ve ever heard about it is true.

Started checking the product page at around 4:30 PST as I had heard it went online about twenty minutes earlier than the stated 7:30 GMT for customers in the UK. Didn’t actually go live until 5:11, at which point everything went to hell. I kept getting logged out of my LEGO ID and VIP accounts, so I couldn’t even add the item to my cart. It only got worse from there. When I was actually able to add to cart, it would tell me I had exceeded the limit, even though I only had a quantity of one selected! It would then keep showing a shipping fee of $40 despite stating at the top of the shopping cart that I had qualified for free shipping. Almost got through and was able to select PayPal as my payment method, but the confirmation page didn’t load. Was then booted out of my account again for about half an hour, and anytime I clicked anything red error messages would come up at the top of the page. The phone was useless as I got a line busy tone everytime I dialed consumer services.

At nearly 6:00 I was finally able to rush through the checkout process in one go right before I was at the end of my wits. The checkout page showed that I would be getting 0 VIP points for the purchase (which wtf?!, I need to be logged in with VIP to even buy this thing), but I didn’t even care. Just confirmed that I was getting charged the right amount and hit submit. Got the confirmation email later in the morning and the order showed up on my account on lego.com. They’ve already charged my credit card, but the status of my order is currently “waiting on new stock.” Looked this up, and it basically means it’s backordered, but there’s no estimated ship date and they said they wouldn’t charge me until the order had been fulfilled.

Anyone else stuck on “waiting on new stock” or have experience with this order status in the past? Just hoping I can get it within the next month and also still have my purchase qualify for the black VIP card.

local Lego store recd. 2 yesterday afternoon, they still had one this AM at 10:30am, till I grabbed it 😉

Any idea when the online store will open on Oct 1?

Or if opens at all due to the inventory issue…
