The developmental progression of this game has been very interesting. Most notably how much the game changed when it left early access and how significantly a lot of reviews dropped. Personally, it plays fine, but since every game goes on sale significantly nowadays, why buy anything full price?

In any case, this DLC feels reasonably priced for the amount of content being delivered.

Its more reasonably priced than a character pack for any other Lego game.

I was waiting on getting this game (as my kids and I are still on the X-box 360) but if I can fly a Galaxy Explorer, I will be getting it sooner than later.

Not to mention if buying this DLC will be viewed as a vote for the return of classic space, I’d try to figure out how to buy it before I even got a console. I feel like Lego keeps getting closer and closer to just doing it. I can’t figure out why they can’t just make it so.

I would be very interested in a classic space theme but using the modern knowledge of building techniques that Lego possesses. We could see some great sets. I’m worried that part of their reason for not doing it is the popularity of the Star Wars line and a desire to not compete.

That makes sense, although I’ve never thought of it that way. The real question is why Nexo Knights exists and a regular Castle line does not. I had some family friends over not too long ago, and their ten year old son was asking me(Its common knowledge that I AM the Lego guy :P) “Are there any castle sets out right now?” I had to explain that Nexo Knights exists, but isn’t really Castle. He then proceeded to ask about Pirates, Space, and Dinos. From what I’ve heeard and seen from others, not only 10 year olds are, for lack of a better term, complaining. People of all ages want these classic themes to return. Lego really has disregarded some of their best themes.

I read an interesting forum post recently that basically pointed out that castle themes are a live and well in other brands (without AFOL followings) and there is definitely a market there.

Also, while a lot of AFOL get grief for asking for things that others say are not of interest to ‘kids’. The truth of the matter is the themes I’m interested in now are the exact same themes I was interested in as a kid, and that my kids are interested in. For some reason my kids never got really into Dinos, but Castle, Space and Superheros are really the Lego trinity around here.

and in case you were wondering Anonymous, yes, my 12 year old self would have LOVED a demon horde.

I’ll admit, I’m not old enough to have lived through the time of the original Lego themes, but I was around for The Adventurers and whatever space theme it was around that time. I think it was Blacktron, Blacktron II? (Clearly I wasn’t THAT interested in space at the time. :P) But, as you feel, I also miss the traditional Lego themes. On the other hand, I’d probably keep buying Star Wars as I do now instead of regular space, and I’d DEFINATELY get LOTR or the Hobbit instead of Castle if those lines were still around. But regardless of what I’d buy, I still wish the themes would come back, as they are iconic of Lego, and the company seems a little empty without them.

LOL at that last part Gomek. xD

Ironically with the pirates line, I like the Navy forces the most. It’s just annoying how they keep changing the Navy uniforms every time they do Pirates.
