It looks like there’s going to be a new and updated LEGO Minifigure Display Case coming in the near future. First discovered over on Brick Fanatics, this new case will feature clear doors in the front to access your minifigures from the front. Another thing that is new about these cases is that they are clear all around so you can fully see all 16 minifigures without having to take them out to look at the back like with previous cases. From the example image, it seems that there’s enough room for both the minifigures and their accessories as well. Like with the previous Minifigure Display Cases that LEGO has produced, they have studs on top that lets you stack multiple cases together.
The current LEGO Minifigure Collectors Box (852820) only allows for 15 minifigures so if you’re a collector of the LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series, there’s no way to display all of them unless you cram 2 minifigs in one compartment so this new one is a definite upgrade. Since it’s already listed over in the UK, that probably means it should be available here in the States very soon so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Oh wow, just enough space for a CMF series. This is great/big news !
LEGOLAND has also been selling an newer nicer version of the collectors box
The 15 spot case isn’t what it should be compared to. Rather, it should be compared to the old Schylling minifigure display cases, since that’s likely who make this new one as well.
True.
Compare that to http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Minifigure-Carry-Case-851399?fromListing=listing instead
Anyone using this already? I’m kinda skeptic since it has black background.
These are very similar to the ones sold at Toys “R” Us (which are $24.99 for a 16 character case) but with a clear backing and fold out double doors instead of the top hatch. I like it, and hopefully it’s a sign that Lego themselves will sell these at the their stores instead of whatever it is they do now with TRU, as you can’t get those cases anywhere else (except 3rd party).
These are more than likely an updated version of those. A Lego store employee told me that they sold those for a bit, but not long, and they are actually sold on the Walmart website as well. I also got a bunch of the 8 spot variant at Target in the past, so they’re not only sold by TRU.
The reason Lego doesn’t carry them is because they are actually not made by Lego. They are made by another company, under a licensing agreement with Lego that lets the company put the Lego branded name on them. They are worth the $25. Though it would be nice if Lego would carry them so you could get the V.I.P. points on them.
that’s what i assumed – that they were licensed. What i meant to say was hopefully this means LEGO has taken this idea/design/concept and will now produce it in-house for mass retail, not just select stores like Walmart and TRU. I have 3 of the 16-figure cases now, and they’re great, but i hate paying money to TRU or Walmart for that matter, if i can help it.
Don’t you mean 16?
