LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 21

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

We’re down to the last five days of the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) and if you’re someone who lives at a place that snows a lot, you may be familiar with this vehicle. For Day 21, we have a red and black snowplow that doesn’t look too bad. It uses some black cheese slopes for the plow and there’s even a bed on the back. There are some 1×2 plate withe bars that could be sed for treads.

LEGO Star Wars Solo Sets Release Date Revealed

Back in October, I reported that there will be some LEGO Star Wars sets coming out that will be based on the Han Solo standalone film coming next year. It looks like there’s confirmation of a release date for the sets coming out of Rebelscum.com which states they will be available starting on April 20, 2018.

There will five system sets (75207, 75209, 75210, 75211, 75212) along with two buildable figures (75535, 75536) coming out for the wave. Rumor has it that one of the sets will be the Millennium Falcon with a blue and white paint job. We most likely won’t see images of the sets in the upcoming toy fairs but it’s possible that they may pop up on the April 2018 LEGO Store Calendar when it becomes available in March.

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 20

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

After yesterday’s terrible looking model for the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253), today we have something more fitting for the holiday and refreshing and the same time. For Day 20, we have a cup of hot chocolate which uses a SNOT technique for the red cup and a red handle piece for the handle. The use of the white cupcake piece finishes off the build representing steam coming out of the cup.

LEGOLAND Castle Hotel

LEGOLAND California has announced that they are now taking reservations for the Castle Hotel for spring 2018. The Castle Hotel is will be the first in the US and it will have over two thousand LEGO models that will be on display throughout the hotel. You can check out the first model the park has revealed in the video below.

LEGOLAND® CASTLE HOTEL AT LEGOLAND® CALIFORNIA RESORT IS TAKING RESERVATIONS FOR THE SPRING AND REVEALS FIRST LEGO® MODEL BUILT FOR THE NEW HOTEL!

CARLSBAD, Calif. (Dec. 20, 2017) – Want to give a child a gift they’ll never forget? Invite them to be one of the first to stay at LEGOLAND® Castle Hotel when it opens in spring 2018! While construction teams work to build the nation’s first LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, Master Model Builders are working just as rapidly building the more than 2,100 LEGO® models for the Hotel including the iconic model of the royal statue that will greet guests as they arrive.

A team of Master Model Builders spent 1,243 hours creating this statue that represents all of the key figures of the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel in one monument: A Wizard, Princess, Jester, Knight, King and Queen are all represented in front of the 250-room, entirely castle-themed hotel. The LEGO model is created from 251,565 LEGO pieces, weighs 1,563 pounds and took 750 hours to develop and build! In fact, because of the size of the model, it took 133 hours to carefully disassemble it and pack it up to ship to Carlsbad, California

LEGO Classic Blue Baseplate (10714) Returning in 2018

LEGO Classic Blue Baseplate (10714)

It looks like the LEGO Classic Blue Baseplate (10714) will be making its return in 2018. There are now official images of the popular baseplate on LEGO’s servers and will be available again starting next year after the 620 version from a few years ago was aburptly retired at the end of 2014. I know a lot of builders have been wanting to get it to do water layouts but don’t want to pay secondary market prices for them. I know it’s not that interesting but there are a lot of LEGO fans who would definitely welcome the return of the Blue Baseplates.

LEGO Creator Modular Building Ranking Results

LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260)

A few weeks ago, I posed a question for the readers to rank their favorite LEGO Creator modular buildings from all the ones that have been released so far to the upcoming Downtown Diner (10260). We’ve had over 1,800 responses to the survey and here are the results of what you guys feel is your favorite modular.

1. Parisian Restaurant – 13.67%
2. Assembly Square – 11.74%
3. Detective’s Office – 11.52%
4. Green Grocer – 10.84%
5. Fire Brigade – 9.63%
6. Palace Cinema – 8.41%
7. Downtown Diner – 7.22%
8. Town Hall – 6.46%
9. Cafe Corner – 5.82%
10. Pet Shop – 5.58%
11. Grand Emporium – 3.91%
12. Brick Bank – 3.17%
13. Market Street – 2.03%

The results are very interesting because the Downtown Diner is in the middle of the pack even though it hasn’t been released yet but people like it enough based on the images. It’s also somewhat not surprising that Market Street is last due it it not being that popular even though it was one of the very first modulars released.

Thank you to everyone who participated. Can you give a reason of how you ranked the modulars? Let us know in the comments below. Hopefully we can do more of these ranking posts in the future.

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 19

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

We had a server upgrade yesterday so I didn’t have a chance to post this but the build for the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) was a bit of a doozy as it doesn’t seem to fit the holiday theme at all. For Day 19, we had a bat. I would’ve thought it was a penguin while building from the bottom up but as I got to the head, I saw the two fangs and got a bit confused until the end. It’s possible that LEGO is referencing the bats from The Nightmare Before Christmas but that seems like a stretch.
