LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Sets Releasing in May

The new German LEGO catalog for the first half of 2018 is now available and Promobricks has given a detailed look what fans can expect early next year. We’ve pretty much seen all of the LEGO sets that are shown in the catalog but I’m mostly talking about the LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sets. According to the little teaser, we can expect them to be coming out in May which is expected because the movie will be premiering in theaters in June. Rumor has it that there will be five sets (75926-75930), three Juniors sets (10756-10758), and two DUPLO sets (10879-10880).

This contest has been going on for a while but LEGO has a contest for a chance to win an exclusive platinum LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 minifigure. All you have to do is fill out their form and you’re entered. There will be two grand prize winners of the platinum R2-D2 which is worth about $3,300. The contest is only open to the following countries:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada (excluding the province of Quebec), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States

I tried it when it was first started but it was having issues with my entry but it looks to be working now. The contest will run until January 1, 2018 at 12:01am EST.

Return of the LEGO Storage Heads

When I came back to LEGO back in 2011, one of the new things that LEGO released was the Sort and Store heads. They retired a short time later in 2013 and nothing really has ever replaced the popularity of it, until now. The folks at Room Copenhagen, who has licensing agreements with LEGO to produce these storage heads, has let us know that they are now available again for purchase on Amazon. The only change with these updated heads is that they are only storage heads and there’s no sorting separators for them.

The heads come in Boy and Girl versions as well as in Large and Small.

The price for them is currently at $34.99 which is 17% off the retail price of $41.99. Even the price is cheaper than the price of $44.99 for the original heads.

Kevin Hinkle No Longer with The LEGO Group

LEGO Kevin Hinkle

Today is a sad day in the LEGO community as Kevin Hinkle has announced that he is no longer part of The LEGO Group after twelve years with the company. I’ve known about this for a few weeks but wanted to wait until Kevin himself made a statement out of respect to him. He did note that him leaving the company was not his decision or his intent but I won’t speculate why.

If you’re not familiar with Kevin and who he is, he’s basically started off working at a LEGO Brand Store to becoming the Community Coordinator for North America who worked closely with LUGs and well as connecting with LEGO fans in general. The Brick Blogger did a great write-up about Kevin’s story a few years back. My first and only time that I met Kevin was back in 2014 during Philly Brick Fest and he was a great person to talk to even though it was for a brief period of time. He actually knew about The Brick Fan site even though I’ve only had it up for a few short years at that time.

Although he’s no longer part of The LEGO Group, he’ll still be part of the LEGO community as a fan just like us. He can now be found on social media @MrKevinHinkle as well as on Bricks in the Middle.
