Starting tomorrow, LEGO will have a new promotion for the exclusive VIP Set (40178). It has 205 pieces an you can get it for free with purchases of $125 or more at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home. LEGO has kindly sent us a copy to review a little early.
The LEGO sales on Amazon have been fairly quiet the past few months but there’s a very nice one for the LEGO City Square (60097). It is currently at $132.99 which is 30% off the regular Shop@Home price of $189.99 and is also price matching Walmart.
It’s buzzing with activity at the City Square! Park your bike at the cozy coffee bar, hop aboard the awesome news helicopter and take to the skies for a bird’s-eye view. When you’re done flying, call by the LEGO Store where a new delivery has just arrived. Help the driver unload the boxes, place them on the handcart and wheel them into the store. Then check out the cool cars for sale at the dealership showrooms. Help the mechanic operate the car lift and fit a new set of sporty alloy rims. There’s just time to buy a hotdog and a newspaper for the journey home, but watch out for the pizza deliveryman on his speedy scooter as you head for the tram stop! Load your bike into the bike compartment, take a seat and watch the world go by as you travel through the LEGO City streets. What an exciting day! Includes 12 minifigures with assorted accessories: a tram driver, helicopter pilot, coffee shop saleswoman, pizza deliveryman, car saleswoman, mechanic, tow truck driver, hotdog salesman, LEGOsales person, LEGO delivery driver, a girl and a boy. Today is the last day of New York Comic Con 2017 and during the Marvel animation panel, Marvel’s Vice President of Animation Cort Lane announced a new LEGO Marvel movie called Black Panther: Trouble in Wakanda. There was no other details released but if it’s a straight-to-DVD type of movie, it may possibly include an exclusive minifigure similar to past LEGO movies.

The second week of Bricktober 2017 has started at Toys R Us and for this week, The LEGO Batman Movie (5004939) minifigures are available. You can get it, in-store only, with a purchase of $50 or more on any LEGO set. You might be able to buy it by itself for $19.99 but that depends on your store. If not, you can buy it next week if there are any left over.
The Holiday 2017 LEGO catalog has started to reach home mailboxes and there are many set that are listed as “Last Chance!” meaning that they will be probably retiring at the end of the year or shortly after. These are in addition to the LEGO Creator Palace Cinema (10232) which LEGO posted about before on social media a few weeks ago.

This set seems to be one of the more higher quality GWP (gift with purchase) sets in recent years as it faithfully recreates the inside of a LEGO Store and the VIP card which are attached by some Technic pins. The promotion for the VIP Set (40178) will run from Tuesday, October 10-25.

I haven’t done a review in a while for The LEGO Ninjago Movie but the next set that I’ll be doing is the Flying Jelly Sub (70610). It has 341 pieces and retails for a decent $29.99 price point.
