The Women of NASA by 20tauri is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. It was a very popular project as it hit the goal in less than two weeks. The project consists of some notable women that have played important roles in NASA’s history such as Margaret Hamilton, Katherine Johnson, Sally Ride, Nancy Grace Roman, and Mae Jenison. There are also some related vignettes to go with the minifigures.
The Women of NASA project now joins Voltron – Defender of the Universe, Spaceballs – Eagle 5, The Addams Family Mansion, the Merchant’s House, the Large Hadron Collider, LEGO Observatory – Mountain View, and Modular Construction Site as the projects that qualify for the Second 2016 Review Stage.

A few days ago, LEGO announced that the LEGO BIONICLE theme will be discontinued at the end of 2016 which saddened many fans of the theme. To send it off with a bang, LEGO ReBrick has launched a new building competition called The Makuta Challenge. The contest is pretty simple, create your own version of the evil overlord Makuta using mostly Constraction and Technic parts and submit your entries on ReBrick. I’ve been waiting for a while to post about this but now is a good time as ever to post them since some readers do need a heads up in case they miss it later on. There are now official images of the three LEGO 2016 Advent Calendars from Amazon France and I’ll upload the descriptions when they’re available. As for the release date, if LEGO follows the same trend from previous years, they will be available on September 1. There will be spoilers below so if you’re looking forward to opening the advent calendars, I would advise you not to click the spoiler tags or read any further.

At the last LEGO panel of San Diego Comic Con 2016, we had a panel for LEGO Nexo Knights. It was moderated by LEGO marketing director Brian Bowler and the panel consisted of Tommy Andreasen (showrunner) and Mark Hoffeimeir (writer) as well as design manager Melissa Pickering, and senior designers Samuel Johnson and Mark Stafford. Also appearing as a guest was the voice of Jestro, Vincent Tong.
Like with the LEGO Ninjago panel, the first half of the panel consisted of LEGO showing off early concept art of some of the sets and its inspirations for the Fortrex, Mecha Horse, the King’s Mech, and Clay’s Rumble Blade. As part of their process, LEGO designers go through a number of builds before settling on the final product for release.
While showing off some of the main characters of the theme, it was revealed that Aaron Fox is named after Michael J. Fox and uses a hoverboard like Marty McFly in Back to the Future II. Also it was noted that the voice of the Book of Monsters is sort of a tribute to Stan Lee and if you’ve watched the show before, you can kind of hear it.
Next up, they showed off a clip which also gave an exclusive SDCC 2016 Snake Den Nexo Power. After the clip, it was revealed that the new season of LEGO Nexo Knights will be premiering on August 13 on the Cartoon Network.
