Brick Loot June 2015 Subscription Box Review

Recently, I received a surprise Brick Loot June 2015 subscription box at my doorstep. I first did a review when they first launched at the end of last year. I had some mixed feelings about it since it was advertised as “a monthly box subscription company geared towards LEGO and BRICK Lovers” but I didn’t expect that it would include some clone brands.

Let’s just jump into the box and see what we get. This month’s brick Loot box is called Brickasaurus Park to celebrate the release of Jurassic World in theaters. Since this is a non-paid review, I’m going to give my full honest opinion on it from a typical LEGO fan’s perspective.

The first thing I noticed was the custom Nerdasaurus Rex build by our good friend Tommy Williamson of BrickNerd. As you can see, it’s a pretty cute and nerdy T-Rex. In my eyes, this was one of the few things that interested me as LEGO purists wouldn’t like to see what else is included in the box besides one other item.

The next thing is a Nanoblock set NBA_010 featuring a Stegosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Currently this set retails for $26.99 on Amazon. Nanoblock is a clone brand that has a similar design of LEGO bricks in a smaller scale.

Next up are some items that I honestly do not want to mix in with my LEGO bricks. These are some buildable animals that are clearly Chinese knock-offs by a company going by Wange Toys or Wange Industrial Co. … Continue

Free LEGO Jurassic World Gallimimus Trap Polybag (30320) Promo at Toys R Us

LEGO Jurassic World Gallimimus Trap Polybag (30320)

Starting today until Saturday, June 27 at Toys R Us stores (US), you can get a free LEGO Jurassic World Gallimimus Trap Polybag (30320) with any LEGO set purchase of $30 or more. Previously, this polybag was thought to be an “exclusive” with the pre-order LEGO Jurassic World Video Game but we learned shortly after that it wasn’t the case.

It’s disappointing to know that none of the bonuses for the game were actual exclusives but at least you can have an army of “Gallimimus”/Coelophysis/Compys after the TRU promo is over next week and the polybags go on sale for $3.99 each.

LEGO Second Half 2015 Consumer Catalog Now Available

LEGO 2015 Consumer Catalog

LEGO has recently published the Australian version of the consumer catalog for the second half of 2015. It shows many of the upcoming sets that we’ll be getting soon including LEGO Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo, and Star Wars including the new Buildable Figures. It also notes the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 14 (71010) will be avaialble in September.

On another note concerning the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets. Due to the sensitivity of the information about the sets, LEGO has asked us to not host images, set names, etc. until September 4 which is Force Friday. Until further notice, I won’t be reporting on any of it unless LEGO officially releases that info themselves through news outlets or on their social media pages. You can find them on other sites but I’ve already removed that info from this site. Thanks to everyone who emailed in about some of the TFA things the past couple of days. It is news but there are some things that are worth waiting for.

LEGO Jurassic World Gate Toys R Us Building Instructions

If you missed out on the LEGO Jurassic World building event today at Toys R Us, you can usually count on Reddit to have the instructions for it shortly after. Today’s build was the gate to Jurassic World and fortunately, the parts included are pretty common. The only bad thing is that the Jurassic World logo is a sticker which you have to obtain on the secondary market or make one yourself.

As an eBay Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Update: My friend Charlie has provided me with a clearer PDF of the LEGO Jurassic World gate which you can download for yourself.

i-Brix Wireless LEGO Lighting System Kickstarter Project

I’ve recently gotten a few emails concerning a new LEGO lights Kickstarter project called i-Brix which the creator states to be an industry-first lighting system to be used with LEGO. These lights have no wires but uses a Power Plate that go underneath the building surface and power is transmitted wirelessly. It seems like a neat concept as you don’t have to build around the wires so if you’re interested, head over to the link above for more details about i-Brix. You can also check out a video of the project below.

San Francisco, CA (June 19, 2015) — Hailed as a “stunning array” by TODAY and “a feast for the senses” by Wired, the Beautiful LEGO series is back with a new collection of breathtaking art. The highly anticipated Beautiful LEGO: Wild! Interviews with LEGO masters give readers an exclusive look into the minds behind the art. For featured builder Sean Kenney, creating art with LEGO is more than just connecting pieces—it’s capturing the essence of a subject: “It has to have life. My sculptures need to be rooted in personal expression.” One of Kenney’s pieces, Monarch, is made from more than 60,000 LEGO pieces.

Tom Poulsom, whose amazing bird sculptures became an official LEGO set this year, explains the appeal of working in such an unusual medium. “To me, LEGO is the best puzzle in the world. There are infinite combinations, and it’s possible to create pretty

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC 2015 Exclusive Sam Wilson Minifigure Revealed

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC 2015 Exclusive Sam Wilson

USA Today has revealed one of the exclusive LEGO minifigures that will be given away free at San Diego Comic Con 2015, Sam Wilson. This version of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Sam Wilson is the “All-New Marvel” Secret Wars version in which he is the new Captain America.

To get the All New Captain America (Sam Wilson) minifigure at SDCC 2015, there will be a raffle done, similar to last year, where they had iPads set up and you just tap it to see if you’re a winner. If you are, you’ll be sent to an employee to pick it up and if you’re not, hopefully you can find a good price for it on eBay. I’m sure the line for this minifig will be very long.

One thing to note is that the article states the limited-edition minifigures will be obtained from drawings Thursday through Saturday so that means there are only three being released this year which is rather odd since there was one every day last year.
