LEGO Jurassic World Video Game Pre-Order Exclusives Not Really Exclusives?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word “exclusive” means 1) excluding or having power to exclude or 2) limiting or limited to possession, control, or use by a single individual or group. Back in March, GameStop announced that their pre-order bonus for the upcoming LEGO Jurassic Worldicon video game would be the Gallimimus Trap Polybag (30320) which clearly states that it’s a GameStop exclusive. Brickset’s listing has the same exact polybag being available at Toy R Us Canada that was going to be available this month. A Reddit post confirms Brickset’s availability note and is currently selling for $5.99 CA. A comment in the same thread states that the Gallimimus Trap will also be available at US TRU for a promo starting the week of June 21.

This brings up the question of what exactly is an exclusive anymore? To me, it means that the particular item is unique and attached to one promo and wouldn’t be sold anywhere else which was the case of previously released LEGO games. For the LEGO Jurassic World video game, all of the known exclusives so far aren’t really exclusives as they are available already or will be available at another retailer such as Toys R Us. For example, the Dr. Wu Target exclusive is the same minifigure as in the Indominus rex Breakout (75919)icon. Personally, I’ll be doing the GameStop pre-order for the polybag but it stings a little that the polybag bonus isn’t really an exclusive. I guess it’s a good thing for LEGO collectors in … Continue

Upcoming Toys R Us LEGO Polybag Promotions

LEGO Star Wars TIE Advanced Prototype (30275)

We’ve reported on many LEGO polybags that have shown up on the Toys R Us website but haven’t seen it actually in stores but FBTB seems to have the inside scoop on a couple of them for some upcoming promotions. First up is the LEGO Star Wars TIE Advanced Prototype (30275) which will be part of a promo starting on May 24.

The other polybag that’s been very sought for is the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes The Joker Bumper Car (30303). That one won’t be “available” until the week of August 9. What’s interesting about this one is that I’ve already seen a couple of people in the US who have been able to purchase this polybag from their local store as early as last week and I’m not sure why the promo listed is so far out. I’ve also reported that the Joker Bumper car could be available at Target as well but there hasn’t been any sightings of it over there yet. Of course for people in the UK, it will be be available this Sunday as part of their Daily Mail promo.

As soon as the promotions are over, TRU will most likely sell them for $3.99 each or if you’re lucky with the cashiers, they’ll probably just sell you one individually.

New LEGO City Space Polybag (30315) Revealed by The Brick Show

LEGO City Space Car (30315)

The Brick Show has revealed a new LEGO City polybag that we haven’t really reported on yet. It was sent to them directly from LEGO for review but nobody really knows the name of it yet. All the information that is available is that it is set 30315 and is part of the Space subtheme that will be coming out this summer. As far as information that I know, there will be a promo in August for a “City Space Car” so I’m going assume that it is talking about that one.

The 30315 polybag consists of an astronaut minifigure riding some sort of rover-type vehicle with a rotating satellite. Check out Stephen’s review on the new LEGO City Space polybag below.

Philly Brick Fest 2015 Steel City LUG Showcase

Philly Brick Fest 2015 - Steel City LUG

Continuing with my coverage of Philly Brick Fest 2015 from a few weeks ago, I’ve been showing some of the LUGs that attended the event and displayed their LEGO MOCs with TubeLUG and PennLUG. Today, I have another showcase featuring another Pennsylvania LUG called Steel City LUG.

Steel City LUG is mainly located in Pittsburgh, hence the name “Steel City,” and they made the 5+ hour trip to Philly to represent their LUG. Like last year, they were well represented and even a few members won a couple of Rocky’s for their MOCs, including one special one called “The Lord of Games” which went to Dan Walker. Check out all the cool stuff they had displayed below.

Real Life LEGO Double-Decker Couch for Super Fans

If you watch the AWE me channel, there’s a show called Super Fan Builds where Hollywood’s top prop makers build one-of-a-kind items for super fans of pop culture. In their most recent episode, they’ve created Emmet’s double-decker couch from The LEGO Movie for Paul and Haley Hollingsworth (digitalwizardz). If those names sound familiar, I featured their LEGO Jurassic Park stop-motion video a few months ago. Very cool item for a great family of builders!

LEGO Dimensions Confirms Portal 2 and Doctor Who Level Packs

LEGO Dimensions

Many of you may have saw this on Brickset while I at work but apparently LEGO has decided to publish the instructions (now removed) for the LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future Level Pack (71201) which confirms the LEGO Portal 2 and LEGO Doctor Who themes for the upcoming toys-to-life game. Other themes that have been newly revealed for LEGO Dimensions include Scooby-Doo Team Pack (71206) and The Simpsons Level Pack (71202) which we already could tell from the blurry image we saw last month as well as Jurassic World Team Pack (71205).

LEGO Dimensions The Simpsons Level Pack (71202)

LEGO Dimensions Jurassic World Team Pack (71205)

LEGO Dimensions Scooby-Doo Team Pack (71206)

The Portal 2 Level Pack (71203) includes a Chell minifigure, a Weighted Companion Cube, and Sentry Turrent. The Doctor Who Level Pack (71204) includes Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, the TARDIS, and K-9. Also in the Doctor Who instructions (now removed), the licensing page mentions Dalek and Cyberman so could we possibly be seeing them in future packs?

LEGO Dimensions Portal 2 (71203)

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Level Pack (71204)

For the Jurassic World Team Pack (71205), we have the Owen and ACU Trooper minifigures, a brick-built Velociraptor, and what appears to be the gyrosphere. Surprisingly, the Owen minifigure will be the second set for the character considering that he’s the main character in Jurassic World and he’s only in the Raptor Rampage (75917) set. For the Scooby-Doo Team Pack (71206), we have the Scooby and Shaggy minifigures, the Mystery Machine, and a pile of food.

If you’re just wanting some of the new characters like Chell and the Doctor and was wondering if the minifigures come off the bases for your enjoyment, rest assured that they … Continue
