ME Models Railway System Kickstarter Project

If you’re a fan of LEGO Trains, then ME Models has something that might be of interest to you. They have a Kickstarter project going that is a fully functional model railway system that compliments the current LEGO Trains product line. ME Models is a company that produces custom LEGO building kits and specializes in houses, businesses, and various vehicles.

The project that they propose is a rail system that expands on the LEGO 9-volt system. They have created a fully functional rail system that is available in different lengths and curves that uses both metal and ABS materials.

The Kickstarter project has a $79,000 goal but it currently has 22 hours left with $64,000 already raised as of this writing. For the LEGO Train enthusiast, this is you chance to support something that expands on what LEGO currently has right now. Check out more details of the ME Models Railway System here.

Update: The goal has been reached but there is still 12 hours left so there are further incentives for pledging more:

$85,000 – For those of you who desire narrow gauge rail, we will be manufacturing 2×6 connectors and plates. These connectors and plates will allow you to expand upon the current narrow gauge offering.

$100,000 – If the project reaches the $100,000 level, ME Models will have the ability to produce a 45 degree cross in ABS plastic. A metal version, will soon follow. For those of you pledging $49 or more, you will receive the ABS version, estimated January 20.

BrickLink at Philly Brick Fest and Seed Part Challenge Announced

Philly Brick Fest Swag - BrickLink

A couple of days ago, Alice Finch on the BrickLink forums discussed her experience at Philly Brick Fest. A few others of the BrickLink team also attended PBF including Eunice, Alex, as well as founder of gaming company Nexon and new owner of BrickLink, Jung-Ju “Jay” Kim. During the event, the first BrickLink Building Challenge was held for AFOLs where they had to build something from prepackaged bags of miscellaneous parts. Carter Baldwin’s bird was the winner of the competition and the model will be submitted into the new BrickLink MOC Shop. Second place went to Lucas Robinson for his starfighter and Andrew Nickerson got third place for his spaceship. Check out the final creations from all the participants below.

In another post, Alice announced the first official Seed Part Challenge to the public. The part that has to be used in the build is a medium azure mudguard #50745. Below are the rules for the challenge and there are some very good prizes up for grabs.

Rules for submission:
• Creatively feature 1 or more of the seed parts in a unique, appropriate model of 250 parts or less
• Submissions can be made on moc.bricklink.com the first week of July and will need to include at least one clear photograph of the model. (More details on the submission process once the site is up.)
• It is recommended to not use extremely rare or expensive parts, as the winner of the challenge will be invited to submit their model to the MOC
