Eurobricks New York Comic Con 2014 Ticket Contest

It seems that something really big is about to go down at New York Comic Con 2014 next month. LEGO will be holding a special panel there and to announce a new LEGO theme and they are providing various LEGO communities tickets to give away. Last week, BZPower started their contest to give their tickets away, which ends on Sunday, September 7th and now Eurobricks has some to give away as well.

They have 3 pairs of tickets to give away for the October 9th event. The ticket will get you into the convention and the panel but there are some requirements that you have to uphold as well. Read all of their rules of the contest in the post here.

Like we mentioned before, there could be a number of themes that could potentially be revealed at New York Comic Con. There was speculation that it could be the return of LEGO BIONICLE because when BZPower started their contest, it was assumed that since they were a BIONICLE centered site. My personal guesses were either the LEGO Jurassic World or the LEGO Minecraft minifigure scale sets. Other themes that readers have guessed on our Facebook Page were the Elves and the Pirates sets which also could be good possibilities. The last guess is the Supercars sets which is for the rumored LEGO Top Gear theme.

Again, sound off in the comments to give us your guesses on what theme LEGO would be announcing next month.

LEGO Seasonal Halloween Bat (40090) Review

A few days ago, we reported that a new LEGO Seasonal set would be appearing in stores for the upcoming Halloween season, the Halloween Bat (40090). Like with the previous holiday sets from earlier this year like the Valentine’s Day Teddy Bear (40085) and the Easter Bunny (40086), LEGO has released these cute little creatures to mark the particular occasion. This set contains 156 pieces and retails for $9.99 for a very nice $0.06/piece.

The box contains two un-numbered bags and a small instructions booklet. The Halloween Bat is pretty easy to build with some typical building techniques. On the back of the instructions booklet, you can also see the Seasonal Thanksgiving Turkey (40091) set that should be coming out in a month or so.

There is some articulation in the wings and the feet. The wings have a nice folding effect that allows it to hold the included brick-built pumpkin if it so desires.

Results

Throughout this year, I’ve really like these little seasonal sets and the Halloween Bat (40090) isn’t an exception. It’s a nice addition to my current cast of seasonal characters. The set is now available at various LEGO Brand Stores as well as on Shop@Home but the once in stores sometimes sell out pretty fast.

On a side note, I did see a couple of the Easter Bunny sets on clearance today at my LEGO Store in Fashion Valley so if you’re still looking for one, you can now get it cheaper than the normal retail price.

LEGO Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) Promo Review

Today starts the month of September and that means we finally get the LEGO Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) promotion that the Europeans had a few months ago. In recent months, it appears that LEGO has been focusing more on classic Space sets like the Exo Suit (21109) and Benny’s Spaceship (70816) and this little promo set just adds to it. The set contains 19 pieces and is free with purchases of $99 or more.

Box

Unlike other LEGO promotions, the box for the Classic Space Minifigure is made of a matte-like packaging material with a stud design all around. On either side of the box, there is a classic LEGO Systems logo which has a cool nostalgic feel to it.

The box opens up by sliding out the tray from the right side which shows the contents of the set: an instruction booklet and sealed bag of pieces. The tray itself also has the Classic Space logo.

Instructions Booklet

The actual instructions in the booklet are just two pages to show how to put together the spaceman and the robot. The rest of the pages is a timeline from the last 38 years of LEGO Space sets as well as some of the Space minifigures. A majority of the Space-themed sets have been well represented on the timeline.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 (71007) Box Distribution

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 (71007)

WhiteFang at Eurobricks has posted his review of the Series 12 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71007) and as usual, he has done a fantastic job on the details including the distribution of each minifigure in a full box.

LEGO has finally gone back to three complete sets of 16 minifigures per box which means that it’s a little easier to find every one.

3 Genie Girls
3 Spooky Girls
3 Hun Warriors
3 Fairytale Princesses
4 Wizards
3 Lifeguards
3 Prospectors
3 Jesters
4 Battle Goddesses
4 Dino Trackers
4 Piggy Guys
4 Pizza Delivery Guys
4 Rock Stars
5 Video Game Guys
5 Space Miners
5 Swashbucklers

I’ll be doing my own review once I am able to collect every minifigure. If you’re trying to collect them, I’m going to be at the Fashion Valley LEGO Store on when they open to feel through the packets so if you have some time, feel free to swing by and I can probably help you out.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 12 (71007) will be available at LEGO Stores on October 1st and probably a little earlier at some retails such Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target. Again, they will retail for $3.99 each.

LEGO Ideas The Hubble Space Telescope Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Hubble Space Telescope by GRusso is the latest project to get 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. It barely made the deadline to reach the Second Review Stage for 2014. With the recent popularity of science-type projects for LEGO fans such as the Research Institute, it’s cool to see another project join the ranks of projects to achieve 10,000 supporters.

It now joins the Assault on Wayne Manor, Invisible Hand, X-Men: X-Mansion, LEGO Lightsabers, UCS All Terrain Armoured Transport, WALL•E, and The Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters as the projects that will be reviewed by the LEGO Jury.

Also, the results of the first 2014 LEGO Review Stage should be coming very soon so we’ll get to see if either the LEGO Bird Project, Modular Apple Store, BTTF – Jules Verne Train, Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, or Doctor Who and Companions will become an official LEGO set.

Congratulations to GRusso for this achievement!
