LEGO Store Exclusive Holiday VIP Shopping Event

LEGO Store Exclusive Holiday Shopping Event

Today in the mail, I received a curious envelope featuring the solid red minifigure. Inside was in invitation to an exclusive Holiday shopping event for VIP members at the local LEGO Store. The shopping event is invitation-only and it allows me and one guest early access to the store to take advantage of special holiday offers as well as free gifts. I’m not sure what specials or gifts the store will be having but I’m curious to see. As to my knowledge of past LEGO “events,” not all VIP Members will be getting an invitation to the event (VIP Keychain). Only members who have spend a certain amount during a certain period will be able to join in on the festivities. Like with many special shopping events, there are restrictions. There’s a spending limit of $5000 and no more than five of each set to per person.

LEGO Putting Smiles On Faces Everyday

I first came over this video on LEGO Shop’s Facebook Page and couldn’t help but to smile after watching it. To give a little back story, Brett took his son to his very first trip to the Vancouver LEGO Store, and like many other kids and adults who have an opportunity to step inside a store, the eyes get big and there’s an unforgettable smile on the face.

This is one of the reasons why I got back into LEGO. Seeing kids happy faces at the stores and it takes me back to my younger days when I would see LEGO sets on the shelves and wanting to buy everything in sight. I have friends who are Brick Specialists at the local LEGO store here in San Diego and to see them assisting kids pick out sets is pretty cool. Some may be visiting for the first time and may be picking out their first sets but one thing that is constant is the smiles that you see.

LEGO Minifigures Online Game Beta Signup

Funcom has updated their page for the LEGO Minifigures The Online Game to allow you to register for Beta access. All you have to do is to enter your birthday and your email. After submitting, you’ll have to confirm your email and that’s it. Funcom will select applicants throughout the Beta period to allow them to test the new MMO, which should be coming up soon. If you’re not selected for the Closed Beta, don’t worry. There will also be an Open Beta where everyone is guaranteed access to the game. The only advantage of the Closed Beta is that people can try out the game longer. The other minifigure comes from emma toys paradise and is the new Spider minifigure from the 2014 LEGO Legends of Chima, Sparratus. It is from Sparratus’ Spider Striker (70130) in next year’s wave. Sparratus has a brown torso with webbing on the front and back. The legs are also brown and it wears a grass skirt. The head is a new mold with a couple of fangs in the front.

Checking out BrickNerd and the Nerdlys

A few months ago, an up-and-coming site called BrickNerd showed up on my LEGO feeds. It was conceived by one of my good friends Tommy Williamson, who I finally got to meet at SDCC 2013. If you recogize the name, Tommy’s been in the LEGO industry for a very long time and has created some great models including Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

BrickNerd is a site of many specialties including LEGO news, reviews, as well as showcasing MOCs from different artists. There is also a video series on YouTube which is very entertaining with high production value. You might even see some unexpected things in his videos. I’ll just say R2-D2 and just leave it at that. As of this writing, there are currently 8 episodes and another one will be coming out very soon.

Tommy also regularly does contests for giveaways such as for his Nerdlys and BrickNerd t-shirts so be sure to follow BrickNerd on various social media outlets if you haven’t including Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter for more details and to show your support.
