Happy 122nd Birthday to Ole Kirk Christiansen

122 years ago today, the founder of LEGO was born. Ole Kirk Christiansen came from an impoverished family in Filskov, Denmark and trained as a carpenter. He started making wooden toys in 1932 and a couple of years later, the rest is history. Unfortunately, Ole never got to see how successful LEGO really had become. I like to wish the creator of one of the best toy companies a very happy birthday! Without him, this site or any other LEGO site wouldn’t have been possible. If you haven’t watched The LEGO Story before, I recommend you do so to learn more about Ole and the LEGO company. If you’ve watched it before, why not watch it again 🙂

LEGOLAND California Hotel Opens Today

Today, the LEGOLAND California resort officially opens their brand new LEGOLAND Hotel right next to the LEGOLAND Park in Carlsbad, CA. Construction of the first LEGOLAND Hotel in the nation began in December 2011 and now is finally completed. There are 250 guest rooms spread out on three stories that are themed. Guest can choose to stay in one of three different themes: Pirate, Kingdom, or Adventure. You can also choose a Premium Themed room which include some extra theming and features in the room as well as an extra LEGO gift for each child inside the treasure chest.

All guest rooms include separate sleeping areas for adults and kids. Adults will have a queen-sized bed while the children get to have a bunk bed and a pull out trundle bed. All the guest rooms will have high definition televisions but who needs that when you have all the LEGO entertainment inside the room such as the bucket filled with LEGO bricks to build things with. There will be some nice goodies for guests such as an in-room treasure hunt for LEGO gifts. As an added bonus for staying at the hotel, guests can get early entry to select LEGOLAND rides and attractions even before the park opens. You can read more about the special features here. Reservations for the LEGOLAND Hotel are now open and rates begin as low as $149 per night.

I, for one, am very excited for the opening of the new LEGOLAND Hotel and hopefully I’ll get to stay there … Continue

New LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Gameplay Video

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game

There is a new gameplay video of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game that will be releasing in October 2013. The gameplay shows the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-man smashing their way through the level and fighting the Abomination and the Sandman. Nick Fury also makes a fairly comical appearance at the end of the video.

You can pre-order the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game on Amazon for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Playstation Vita, and for the PC. There’s still no word yet if there will be an exclusive minifigure included with the game but given LEGO’s track record, there’s a high possibility there will be one.
