The Gandalf polybag that we saw last week showing up on eBay has now shown up on the Toys R Us website. It is listed under the Lord of the Rings LEGO theme and is selling for $3.99 each. The set probably depicts Gandalf at Dol Guldur where he finds Thrain, father of Thorin Oakenshield, held prisoner and receives the map and Key of the Lonely Mountain. If you still find the polybag available online, I suggest picking it as these polybags are highly sought after. It is currently the cheapest way to get one but LEGO Shop@Home will be offering the polybag with a purchase of LEGO The Hobbit An Unexpected Gathering Board Game (3920) from Dec 9th – 31st, while supplies last.
The LEGO The Hobbit Barrel Escape (79004) is the second Special The Hobbit Trilogy Preview Set with the other being the Escape From Mirkwood Spiders (79001) set. This means that this particular scene will take place in the second movie, The Desolation of Smaug. This set contains 334 pieces and retails for $39.99. That comes out to $0.14/piece. The box contains two numbered bags and one instruction booklet. This set is a LEGO store, Shop@Home, and a Toys R Us exclusive.

It is December and it’s time to review the new LEGO Star Wars 2012 Advent Calendar (9509). The set contains 234 pieces and retails for $49.99. Shop@Home currently, as of this writing, has it on sale for $24.98. The calendar features 14 models and 10 minifigures, including the exclusive Santa Darth Maul minifigure.
