LEGO DOTS Theme Ending in 2023

It has been announced that the LEGO DOTS theme will sadly be coming to an end later this year. LEGO DOTS was launched back in 2020 with mixed reactions and the past few years, it also included some licensed products which will have designs from Harry Potter in the next few months. The January and March products will be released but that will be the end of it. While the theme will be ending, it will not affect other similar themes like LEGO Art.

Update on exit of the LEGO® DOTS theme from June 2023 assortment and onwards

Dear all,

After careful consideration, we have decided to exit the LEGO® DOTS theme and integrate tile-based play into other themes within our portfolio.

January and March launches of LEGO DOTS novelties will go ahead but also be our last on this theme, with all current items from 2022 remaining active in the product line up until the end of the year.

LEGO DOTS was launched in March 2020 with the ambition to connect with kids through their passion for arts & crafts – looking at encouraging self-expression and to attract new builders to the LEGO brand. It was a completely new style of building which used brightly coloured tiles to ignite creativity with LEGO fans, in a fun and unique way.

LEGO Ideas The Stargate Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Stargate by Captain Mutant is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The 1,000 piece build is the second Stargate related project to reach the goal in as many weeks and this one is an updated version from the last time it also hit 10k.

The project joins Dr. Seuss and LEGO, Sweet Honey, The Botanical Garden, The Crown – A Piece of History, Stargate SG1: Embarkation Room, Roscosmos Soyuz MS Spacecraft, and Motorized Howl’s Moving Castle as the ones to reach the Third 2023 Review Stage.

LEGO Ideas Motorized Howl’s Moving Castle Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Motorized Howl’s Moving Castle by ericlego321 is the latest project to achieves 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The 2,000 piece build features a 1:100 representation of the iconic Moving Castle which includes a motorized system to actually make it walk.

The project joins Dr. Seuss and LEGO, Sweet Honey, The Botanical Garden, The Crown – A Piece of History, Stargate SG1: Embarkation Room, and Roscosmos Soyuz MS Spacecraft as the ones to reach the Third 2023 Review Stage.

LEGO BIONICLE Tahu and Takua (40581) GWP Revealed

The not-so-secret LEGO BIONICLE theme is back in 2023 with the reveal of a gift with purchase set in the BIONICLE Tahu and Takua (40581). The set features one of the most iconic characters in BIONICLE lore Tahu and the little Takua in his Matoran form. The set isn’t a sign of a full theme coming back but just a one-off tribute set to celebrate past LEGO themes like the Forest Hideout (40567) and Blacktron Cruiser (40581).

BrickNerd and Brickset have done early reviews of this set so go check that out. There’s no word yet on the exact date when the promotion will start but it is said to be in January with purchases of $100/£90/€100.

LEGO Ideas Roscosmos Soyuz MS Spacecraft Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Roscosmos Soyuz MS Spacecraft by Tom_Brick is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build features the Russian spacecraft that has three separate modules, the instrument, descent, and orbital modules.

The project joins Dr. Seuss and LEGO, Sweet Honey, The Botanical Garden, The Crown – A Piece of History, and Stargate SG1: Embarkation Room as the ones to reach the Third 2023 Review Stage.

LEGO Year of the Rabbit (40575) & Houses of the World 1 (40583) Promotions Live on LEGO Shop

There are some now promotions that are now live on the LEGO Shop which include the Year of the Rabbit (40575) and Houses of the World 1 (40583). You can get the rabbit with purchases of $85 or more while the houses require a $250 purchase. There’s also the Lunar New Year VIP Add-On Pack (40605) with a $50 purchase.

Keep in mind that the Houses of the World is a whole collection as there are three more coming later this year, most likely with the same price threshold.
