LEGO Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone (21331) Designer Video

LEGO has released the designer video for the new LEGO Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone (21331). Design Manager Sam Johnson and Graphic Designer Lauren King talks about some of the many details that are in the set. One of these details is the scoreboard sticker which has some special numbers representing something unique to the fan designer Viv and the two LEGO designers. Also Dr. Eggman required LEGO to invest in new machinery to be able to rotate the element 45 degrees. There’s a lot more details that Sam and Lauren touch on so check it out in the video below.

LEGO Retiring Soon Sets Restocked on LEGO Shop – January 2022

LEGO has just restocked a number of sets on the LEGO Shop that are soon to be retired. This might be the final time that they will be restocking so get them while you still can. This is also nice timing since the Year of the Tiger (40491) promotion is still going on until January 27.

LEGO Year of the Tiger (40491) Available at Walmart – January 2022

For those who missed the Zavvi offer the other day, Walmart is also selling the LEGO Year of the Tiger (40491) as a standalone set. It is also retailing for $9.99 and it is still currently a gift with purchase promo over on the LEGO Shop where you have to spend $85 to get it.

I thought the Zavvi pre-order was just a fluke as a brand new GWP set isn’t supposed to be sold separately, especially since it just got released, but if Walmart is also selling them, does this mean that we can just buy upcoming GWPs in the future? We’ll see next month when that promo goes live, whenever that is. Thanks to Gordon for the heads up.

Nuremberg Toy Fair 2022 Officially Cancelled

A few days ago, the Toy Association announced that the 2022 New York Toy Fair was officially cancelled and it looks like the Germans are following suit as the 2022 Nuremberg Toy Fair has also been cancelled. The event was set to take place next month but due to the ongoing COVID pandemic and exhibitors withdrawing, the organizers has decided to move the event to an online platform. At this point, I won’t be surprised if the London Toy Fair was cancelled too but they stated last week that the event will go on as intended. It doesn’t really matter since London is a closed event and photography and sharing details is prohibited.

Cancellation of the physical Spielwarenmesse 2022

The toy industry has been looking forward to the world’s leading event for the sector at the beginning of February. The rapid growth of the Omicron variant in recent days, however, and the resultant increasing number of cancellations to stands, has left the organiser, Spielwarenmesse eG, with no alternative – with a heavy heart it has to cancel Spielwarenmesse 2022 in Nuremberg. As an alternative, exhibitors, specialist retailers and media representatives can meet up on the Spielwarenmesse Digital platform.

“We have fought hard to be able to hold the live event and we received strong support initially from toy markets worldwide,” says Christian Ulrich, Spokesperson of the Executive Board at Spielwarenmesse eG. A large number of suppliers without international distribution networks appealed to the organisers even in December to continue with the fair, which is so important

LEGO Exclusives Back in Stock – January 2022

If you’ve been waiting for some LEGO Exclusives to restock, there’s a few sets that are now available again on the LEGO Shop. Most of them have been out of stock since last year and have recently came back but there’s still some popular ones that are still temporarily out of stock. The Titanic (10294) has been going in and out the past few days so I suggest using the in-stock notification. It’s hit or miss but I’ve read that some people had success with it.

LEGO Boutique Hotel (10297) – $199.99
LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors’ Edition (76391) – $249.99
LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship (75309) – $349.99
