The LEGO Foundation and KIRKBI Announce Donation to Support Children in Haiti and Afghanistan

Today, the LEGO Foundation and KIRKBI have announced that they will be donating 100M DKK to support vulnerable children in Haiti and Afghanistan. This donation is equivalent to about $15.7 million that will go to their partners including UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and Education Cannot Wait (ECW) to help children that are affected by the recent humanitarian crises in the respective countries.

Billund, Denmark, 26 August 2021: The LEGO Foundation and KIRKBI, the owners of the LEGO Group, today announced a new 100M Danish Kroner (DKK) grant (equivalent to $15.7M USD or £11.5M GBP) to support vulnerable children in Haiti and Afghanistan with partners including UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and Education Cannot Wait (ECW).

30M DKK will go to UNHCR, 20M DKK will go to UNICEF; and 35M DKK to ECW. 15M DKK will be distributed in due course, as the needs of the emergencies unfold.

LEGO Color Scheme Options Surface on LEGO Shop

Earlier this month, it was revealed that some LEGO sets will be getting new color schemes and it looks like the LEGO Shop is getting ready to implement them. Both the Fiat 500 (10271) and Mighty Dinosaurs (31058) have some new color selection options added to their product pages.

Currently, they only have the original colors for the sets but we already know that the Fiat will also have a light blue color scheme while the Mighty Dinosaurs will have two more options, brown and earth blue. There’s no word yet on when LEGO will launch them but it’s possible that they’ll be up on September 1.

LEGO Super Mario Amazon Sales – August 2021

Amazon currently has a few of the LEGO Super Mario sets on sale that are up to 30% off. A majority of them are from the first couple of waves for the theme, hence, the sales on them. There’s also more sets that have discounts less than 20% in the link above.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Gamescom 2021 World Premiere

Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2021 is here and we finally get to see a new world premiere gameplay trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. The game has been delayed a few times and it’s gotten to the point where the hype for the game has started to die down just a tiny bit. The gameplay looks pretty polished and you’ll get to play all nine games in the Skywalker Saga in Spring 2022.

LEGO City Stuntz Line Officially Announced

Even though they’ve been on the LEGO Shop since the beginning of July, LEGO has officially announced the LEGO City Stuntz line. Available starting on October 1, there are ten sets that feature bikes that are powered by a new fly-wheel.

LEGO has launched some new LEGO Super Mario VIP rewards in the Rewards Center. For 500 points, you can get the LEGO Luigi keychain which is sent through a code that you use during your next checkout. LEGO is also giving out free 200 My Nintendo Platinum points which you can redeem on https://my.nintendo.com/. While you’re there, My Nintendo has the LEGO Mario keychain for 400 Nintendo Platinum points. You’ll have to pay shipping for that.

For 50 LEGO VIP points, there are some digital downloads which includes some wallpapers to use on PC and phone. The Medieval Fortress (Castle) by LEt.sGO is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The castle has an open back but also opens up to access the inside details.
