LEGO Super Mario Coins Found in LEGO Stores

The past few days, social media has been lit up with some new LEGO Super Mario coins that people have been getting at LEGO Stores. The coins feature Mario in either a gold or silver finish. The distribution of it is unknown as various stores around the world have done different things to give them away. I’ve been asked many times about it and I honestly don’t know what the correct answer is except asking your store about it.

There’s been an aggregation of various ways people have gotten their coins on the LAN which consists of the following.

North America

• A store in Canada gave them out with any purchase made.
• A New Jersey store had children interact with a themed scanner device. The device would display a result of “gold” or “silver” coin, and the child would receive that coin. A small scavenger hunt had to be attempted beforehand.
• An Ohio store has the scanner, but no scavenger hunt.
• A different Ohio store has the scavenger hunt, but no scanner.
* A store in Utah gave them out only to people who purchased Adventures with Luigi Starter Course.
• A store in Canada gave them out with any purchase made.

UK

LEGO Celebrates 89th Birthday

Today, LEGO celebrates its 89th birthday. On this day way back in 1932, Ole Kirk Christiansen began making his iconic wooden toys. It wasn’t until 1958 when the first brick was patented by his son and the rest is history. If you haven’t seen The LEGO Story below, it’s a great animated video showing LEGO’s history.

I don’t think there’s anything special planned for today but we can surely expect something big for next year when LEGO celebrates nine decades of play. One thing is the 90th anniversary fan vote in which LEGO will be choosing a classic theme to make a set for.

LEGO VIDIYO Amazon Sales – August 2021

The LEGO VIDIYO sales have slowly been hitting products over on Amazon. We’ve already seen that some of the BeatBox sets have been reduced down to $5 at various Walmart locations but that’s only if the stores marked them as clearance. Usually, they get snatched up pretty quickly.

Amazon has a majority of the first wave of BeatBox on sale for 20%. Some of them aren’t listed as a sale item but remember they retail for $19.99 each.
