LEGO Comic Creator Returns for SDCC at Home 2021

With Comic Con at Home 2021 coming to a close soon and if you haven’t done it yet, LEGO still has their LEGO Comic Creator available for the first 10,000 participants. It is the same as last year where you can create your own LEGO minifigure and choose a universe between Star Wars, Spider-Man, or Batman to build a story around. This is the same as last year’s activity when Comic Con was shut down as well. There is a limit of three comics per house hold so you can pretty much get all three stories unless you have more than one child.

LEGO Adults Welcome Catalog Hitting Mailboxes

LEGO Adults Welcome Catalog

If you get LEGO catalogs in the mail, you may or may not have received a new Adults Welcome catalog which has been the talk on various forums in recent days. The pages have a more higher quality feel to it and the covers have a matte feeling to them. The catalog basically shows some of the sets that are listed as 18+ with some product details. LEGO has given some insight on it:

It was a test mailed only to select individuals in the US. It was super-targeted, although I don’t know their criteria for selection. Most households were reported to never have made a LEGO purchase before.

Nobody knows what the criteria is to get one but if you did get one, congrats because it looks like there weren’t that many that went out. It’s cool to see that LEGO is branching out to AFOLs using physical media since most mainly rely on information digitally nowadays.

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Penguin (40498) Teaser

A few days ago, we got a first look at some of the new 2021 LEGO Seasonal Halloween sets and on the back of one of the sets, we also can see a future Christmas set as well. On the back of the Halloween Owl (40497), we can also see the Christmas Penguin (40498) which includes a penguin with a small Christmas on top of a snowy base. We can probably guess the price point is $14.99 which is the same as the other sets for 2021 but the piece count is still unknown.

LEGO Releases Statement Regarding LEGO VIDIYO Cancellation Rumors

Earlier, there were reports that the new LEGO VIDIYO theme was potentially being cancelled and fan media picked up on it and as a result, LEGO has released a statement about the theme and what we can expect in the future.

It seems like corporate speak but they have been taking feedback from the community regarding the sets and the app and will be piloting some new ideas in 2022 and releasing new play experiences in 2023.

We wanted to provide you with an update regarding LEGO VIDIYO.

As you know, we launched LEGO VIDIYO in January to connect with children in a completely new way, blending music, digital play and LEGO building in a fun and unique way. The product tested extremely well during development and has received really positive feedback from those children and families who have played with it.

We’ve seen a positive response to the launch, but we’ve also received feedback from people that we could make the play experience across the app, BeatBits, music and minifigures even simpler. So, we’re taking that onboard and together with Universal Music Group are going to pilot some new ideas in 2022, then release new play experiences in 2023 and beyond.

LEGO VIDIYO is very much still available, the current products will continue to be sold in stores and marketed globally, and we’re continuing to support this fantastic play experience, including new updates and fun challenges to the app to inspire children’s creative music video making.

Thank you for your continued support of the LEGO

LEGO VIDIYO Theme Rumored to be Cancelled

There’s some big news coming out of Promobricks regarding the new LEGO VIDIYO theme and it potentially being already cancelled. They are reporting that the third wave is no longer being shipped to retailers and orders for them are being cancelled.

It’s not really a big surprise but there have been reports of the sets being heavily discounted around the world, even after the first wave which suggest the sets weren’t selling well.

There were some cool sets in the second wave and the minifigures were pretty unique but the apprehension of using the app is one of the deal breakers for people to buy the sets. Of course, these are just rumors until it is actually confirmed.

Update: LEGO has released a statement about the future of the theme.
