LEGO Braille Bricks Officially Launches

It may seem like a long time ago but last year LEGO announced they were producing LEGO sets to help visually impaired children learn Braille. After a successful test in different countries and languages, LEGO Braille Bricks has been officially launched. Check out the details below on how to acquire them.

LEGO® Braille Bricks to launch in twenty countries over the next six months following successful pilot program

The LEGO Foundation and the LEGO Group roll out the first wave of the program in partnership with local sight loss organizations to help children with vision impairment learn critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration through play.

Billund, August 20th 2020: Today, the LEGO Foundation and the LEGO Group announced the official launch of LEGO Braille Bricks in seven countries, including Brazil, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, UK and USA. The program was first unveiled as a pilot project in April 2019 during the Sustainable Brands Conference in Paris, France – home ground of Braille inventor, Louis Braille. Since then, the concept has been tested across various languages and cultural contexts and is ready to launch in six languages, including Danish, Norwegian, English, Portuguese, German and French. Four additional language versions will launch over the next six months, with the ambition that the concept will be implemented in a total of eleven languages across twenty countries by early 2021.

LEGO x Adidas A-ZX Series Shoe Might be Coming Soon

For those who have been waiting for an officially licensed LEGO shoe, the wait might not be that long. Complex is reporting that LEGO will be doing a collaborative project with Adidas for the Adidas A-ZX series of shoes. The A-ZX series was introduced in 1984 and it is a theme that features special drops from various partners and it looks like LEGO will be part of it. The shoe is said to be released in late September or early October. Sign up over on Adidas’ site for updates on the reveal.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 20 (71027) Amazon Sale (Limit 3) – August 2020

Amazon is currently selling the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 20 (71027) again for $3.44 which is 31% off the retail price. The only bad thing here is that there is a limit of 3 which is a bummer because they had a larger quantity a few months ago. If you’re shopping for other items, it may be worth it to add these to the cart as these are pretty cheap at the moment. You will get random packs and there’s no guarantee that you will get what minifigures you want.

LEGO Star Wars Bespin Duel (75294) Not Exclusive to Shop@Home

A few days ago, I reported that the LEGO Star Wars Bespin Duel (75294) will be available for Shop@Home but it appears that it won’t be an exclusive set. A reader by the name of Fred was able to purchase a set from Benjo which is an independent store in Quebec City, Canada. This is on top of the fact that Toys R Us Canada may be selling it as well. In addition, the listing in the August/September 2020 catalog does not show it as an exclusive or hard to find like with other direct-to-consumer sets. Will it be available at other retailers here in the US, we shall see.

The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks Book Update

It’s been just over a day since LEGO announced they are partnering with Unbound to release a book geared towards AFOLs called The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks. Here’s a little update of what has happened since then. As of this post, there are 960 supporters which brings the crowdfunding to 61% funded. Most of the large rewards have been claimed but there are still various limited edition prints available.

There’s also an update of what the book consists of since we didn’t get any details from the press release yesterday.

• A full colour, high quality hardback with printed endpapers
• 279 x 229mm portrait with head and tail bands
• At least 350-400 colour and black and white photographs
• Approximately 368-400 pages, and 60-70,000 words

As you can see, it’ll be a pretty big book and could be a good candidate for a coffee table book. There’s also a video from Daniel Konstanski talking about what we can expect to see which you can check out below.

There’s still a lot of time to pledge your support for The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks as they are taking pre-orders are accepted until early 2021. The book won’t officially release until 2022.

LEGO Star Wars Bespin Duel (75294) to be Available on LEGO Shop@Home

The LEGO August/September 2020 Catalog is starting to hit mailboxes and there’s something interesting that you may be interested in if you’re a LEGO Star Wars fan. On page 49 at the bottom, it shows a listing for the Bespin Duel (75294) which was supposed to be an exclusive set to either SDCC 2020 or Star Wars Celebration 2020. Due to both of them not happening this year, it looks like LEGO has decided to sell it on their own. This most likely means it will be available on LEGO Shop@Home. We now also have pricing for the set which is $39.99 for 295 pieces. There’s no word on when it will be released but I’m assuming it’ll be September 1 along with the other LEGO Star Wars sets. Also, we don’t know how many sets LEGO has produced for it so it could be a limited run.

LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) Back in Stock on Shop@Home

The LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) has been one of the hottest products LEGO has recently released and it is now back in stock on Shop@Home. It seems that LEGO has a good enough inventory to change the status of it. It retails for $229.99 and it qualifies you for the LEGO Speed Champions Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO (30342) polybag which isn’t much but it’s better than nothing besides VIP points.
