LEGO Ideas Piano (21323) Teaser Released

It’s been a very long wait but LEGO has just released a teaser for the upcoming LEGO Ideas Piano (21323). As you can see from the clip below, a small section of the keys is playing Fur Elise and it looks to include sound with it. We’re not sure at this time if the Piano really makes sounds or if the effect is just added to the teaser. It won’t be long until LEGO announces the set so stay tuned.

LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) Release Potentially Cancelled

There’s a new report this morning from Zusammengebaut that may affect the release of the upcoming LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113). Since the Osprey is based on a military vehicle, the German Peace Society has denounced LEGO for planning to release this set which was scheduled for August 1. LEGO’s version of the set is based on a search and rescue vessel, one without weapons.

The German Peace Society says LEGO cooperates with arms companies and plans to stage protests this week outside of three LEGO Brand Stores in Germany, including the flagship store in Berlin.

LEGO has released a statement regarding this issue on the Ambassador Network:

The LEGO Technic Bell Boeing Osprey V-22 was designed to highlight the important role the aircraft plays in search and rescue efforts.

While our set depicts a rescue version of the plane, the aircraft is predominately used by the military. We have a long-standing policy not to create sets which feature military vehicles and in this case we have not adhered to our own internal guidelines.

As a result, we are currently reviewing our plans to launch this product on August 1.

As a result, the LEGO Technic Bell Boeing Osprey V-22 has been removed from LEGO Shop@Home and the release of the set could be cancelled even before it hits store shelves.

LEGO Masters Finale Builds Displayed at LEGOLAND California

LEGOLAND California LEGO Masters

A few days ago, the LEGOLAND California Big Shop reopened to the public and there are some new LEGO Masters display items that you can check while you’re shopping. The season finale of LEGO Masters featured three teams including Sam & Jessica, Mark & Boone, and Tyler & Amy, with the winner of season one being Tyler & Amy. Spread out in the Big Shop are the final builds the teams created and you can check them out up close to actually see how massive the builds are. The Big Shop will also be open to the public, with parking free of charge, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekend and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Thanks to my friend John for sending the images over.

Rumored LEGO Direct to Consumer Sets Retiring in 2020

It’s that time of the year where we get some information of what LEGO sets will be retiring soon. According to my sources, there will be some popular LEGO direct to consumer sets that will be going away by the end of the year. I’ve been told that the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260), Taj Mahal (10256), and the LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) will be retired. Only the Ideas set hasn’t been out for a year as of this writing. One of the reasons why the Tree House is going away so fast is that there are so many upcoming Ideas sets in the pipeline, there’s no more room for it on the shelves.

Most of the sets are out of stock on Shop@Home but the Diner is available on Amazon. I suggest checking the store stock on the Shop@Home product pages to see if your local LEGO Brand Store still has them.

LEGO Super Mario Rumored SDCC 2020 Exclusive

San Diego Comic Con 2020 goes virtual this year and we’ve already reported that LEGO won’t be doing any panels as confirmed on the schedule. As for the LEGO exclusive, there’s no word on anything but there are rumors floating around Instagram about one that is LEGO Super Mario related. The set is called Toad’s Special Hideaway (77907) and it is priced at $19.99. There’s no details on where it will be sold at but it could be sold online at Target similar to the LEGO Star Wars Celebration 2019 Darth Vader Bust (75227). As always, nothing is confirmed so we’ll see if LEGO does anything next week.
