LEGO Ideas Releases More Video Call Backgrounds

A few days, LEGO released some video backgrounds for those who are telecommuting and today, LEGO Ideas has also released some that are created by the LEGO community. For the past few weeks, they did an activity called “Create a Custom Background for fans to submit their own builds for various occasions. They have gathered a good number of them and have put them all in a Google Drive so you can download them. They will continue to add to the list so keep checking back for new ones.

LEGO Product Availability Update

You may have noticed that a lot of sets on LEGO Shop@Home have been on backorder status for a while now and LEGO has given an explanation on future product availability. It nothing too out of the ordinary but at least there are updates on the situation.

During the past few months we have seen a strong demand for our products as families and hobbyists turn to building to help them get through this difficult period. As a result, we have been working incredibly hard to make sure that our products are available online in our stores and our retail partners’ e-commerce sites.

We have been fortunate that our factories in Europe and Asia continue to operate. Our factory in Mexico has been closed for the past few weeks after the Mexican government ordered all non-essential manufacturing sites to close while the country focused on preventing the spread of the virus. We have been using our full global supply chain to ship products to all markets and fulfill orders as best as possible.

While COVID has created a very dynamic and uncertain environment, at this stage it hasn’t impacted decisions about when to retire products.

So far we have seen very limited disruption to supply and at this stage we continue to be able to supply our retail partners and our e-commerce store on LEGO.com.

Does this mean there will be a shortage of LEGO products?

We have products in distribution centres and warehouses and are working hard to fulfill orders. We also have a global

How to Motorize LEGO Fairground Collection Haunted House (10273)

Yesterday’s announcement for the LEGO Fairground Collection Haunted House (10273) had an overwhelming positive response from the community and one of the main features is the Tower of Terror style free-fall ride that is in the back. Of course you can manually crank the lift up but you can also motorize it with the use of the Powered Up app.

On the back of the box, it shows that you’ll need the Powered Up Hub (88009) along with two Medium Motor (88008), and the free app. I assume all of these is to control how fast the lift goes up or down but there’s no information about that in the press release. Note that those parts are not included with the set so you’ll have to purchase them separately to get the full experience. I’m sure some of you will try to integrate the older Power Functions in it as a replacement if it is possible.

LEGO Fairground Collection Haunted House (10273) Designer Video

Today was the big announcement for the LEGO Fairground Collection Haunted House (10273) and in addition, LEGO has also released the designer video for the set. Designers Carl Merriam, Mike Psiaki, Niek van Slagmaat and graphic designer Austin Carlson talk about some of the details in the set. One thing that was interesting to me was that LEGO used a lot of old builds from previous sets and rebuilt them in this one. It’s also cool to see the elevator feature which can also be controlled with the Powered Up app.
