If you saw the announcement for the LEGO Ideas Steamboat Willie (21317) set, you may have saw that it was labeled at set #24 in the Ideas line. More keen-eyed readers may have noticed that it is the same number as the recently released The Flintstones (21316) set as it is also #24. This is an error on LEGO’s part and they have released a statement about it.

Due to our excitement to get the Steamboat Willie set into the hands of LEGO fans around the world as quick as possible, an error was made on the packaging relating to the sequential set number. It was mistakenly printed as #24 and it should have been #25. This will be corrected in future sets.

The first run of sets will have the error on the boxes so if you’re particular about that kind of thing, then you’ll be glad to know they will be fixing it in later releases. For those who are getting it when it comes out in April, you will be getting the error boxes and may be a bit more valuable later on when the set retires since there are people who do buy error stuff from LEGO.

The LEGO Ideas Steamboat Willie (21317) was announced earlier this morning and like with some of the more recent Ideas set releases, there will also be a signing event attached to it. According to Hasan from the LEGO Ideas team, there will be two signing events in April for Steamboat Willie with fan designer Máté Szabó and they will be held at Disney Springs and Disneyland Paris. LEGO has officially announced the next LEGO Ideas set that will be available with Steamboat Willie (21317). The set has 751 pieces and retails for $89.99 and will be available starting on April 1. The set is based on the 1928 animated short of the same name and is a set to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s birthday. Check out the press release and more images of the set below.

All aboard Steamboat Willie to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s birthday!

Disney Mickey Mouse fans will love this LEGO® Ideas 21317 Steamboat Willie building toy marking the 90th anniversary of the most famous cartoon character ever. Mickey Mouse made his screen debut in a 1928 black-and-white animated short film called ‘Steamboat Willie’, which was also the first Disney film to have synchronized sound.
