LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) Amazon Sale

LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313)

Another day, another deal that has popped up on Amazon. They currently have the LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) on sale for $55.99 which is 20% off the regular price of $69.99. This is obviously a better deal considering that it has 284 trans-blue 1×1 round plates which bumps up the parts count. If you factor that in, you only get 678 pieces and the regular price would be at $0.10/piece but with the sale it drops it down to $0.08/piece. I’ve already done an in-depth review of the set if you want to check it out.

The LEGO Movie 2 Keeping it Awesomer with Emmet Exclusive Minifigure Revealed

The LEGO Movie 2 Keeping it Awesomer with Emmet

Amazon has updated their listing of The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Keeping it Awesomer with Emmet which includes an exclusive Emmet minifigure with the book. The minifigure is hard to see but it looks like the one on the cover of the book which shows Emmet’s outfit all tattered. Since it’s hard to see the minifigure through the clamshell glare, it’s hard to see if it is the same one as the ones shown in a few of the sets that were revealed for SDCC.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Keeping it Awesomer with Emmet will be released on January 3 and it retails for $11.33. You can pre-order it now and you’ll get the lowest price if it drops between now and then.

Thanks to Michael for the heads up!

LEGO Creator Tower Bridge (10214) Sale at Walmart

The LEGO Creator Tower Bridge (10214) is one of the oldest sets that is still currently available at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home but there is a sale going on at Walmart that is probably the better deals that I’ve seen for it. The set is selling for $194.99 which is about 18% off the normal price of $239.99. Considering that it has 4,287 pieces, I would say that the sale makes it a great price with the $0.04/piece ratio. Walmart does offer free 2-day shipping or you can do a pickup at your nearest location.

LEGO Star Wars UCS Snowspeeder (75144) Sale at Walmart

LEGO Star Wars UCS Snowspeeder (75144)

Continuing with some of the fall sales on LEGO sets, Walmart has discounted the LEGO Star Wars UCS Snowspeeder (75144). It is now at $169.99 which is 15% off the regular price and we usually don’t see prices like these unless you use VIP points on it.

Amazon is also price-matching Walmart on the price but on the Frustration-Free Packaging. This means that Amazon could just slap the shipping label on the box itself and ship that way or it ships without the LEGO box itself and you just get the contents in a box. It’s risky but sometimes it works out fine.

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) Releasing Late October

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315)

LEGO China has revealed that the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) will be releasing later this month. On a post about some upcoming LEGO promotions, there’s an image that says the set will be coming October 26. The image shown isn’t the final product as it just used one of the images from the original project on LEGO Ideas. The release date is just a few weeks away so the official reveal of the set will probably be really soon.

Toys R Us Rebranded as Geoffrey’s Toy Box

Just a few months after Toys R Us declared bankruptcy and closed all of their stores here in the US, it looks like they have planned a comeback as soon as next month. Now going under the name of Geoffrey’s Toy Box, they are planning to open store-in-a-store shops and the first ones will reportedly be in a large Midwest retailer. My guess is that it could be in some Meijer stores since they are pretty popular in that part of the country.

This news may sound great as we do need a dedicated toy store but it also doesn’t sit well with some, mainly former employees. As one of those employees, I along with about 33,000 others lost our jobs with no severance pay while the the executives got paid bonuses. I honestly don’t care much about it anymore because I had something lined up before I left but it did leave a bitter taste in my mouth with how everything went down. From what I read, they are trying to rehire some of the former employees in the new stores so that’s good news I suppose. If I was somehow invited back, I most likely won’t be going back because it won’t be the same as before.

It’s still hard to say what Geoffrey’s Toy Box could be at this time. Most likely there will probably be some LEGO sold there but not to the extent of what TRU used to have. We’ll have to see if this new venture pans out or not … Continue
