LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon Pedicab Ride in New York City

May the 4th is in full swing and to celebrate the event, LEGO has put something together that you can do in New York City if you’re nearby. LEGO Master Builders have built a Millennium Falcon pedicab using over 20,000 bricks and you can take a ride in it at Bryant Park today. Rides began at 9AM today and pickups are at 6th Ave between 40th and 41st. It will take a loop once around the park and the dropoffs will be at the same place. Each ride will last about 10 minutes.

LEGO has also partnered up with UNICEF and the Millennium Falcon pedicab will be used as a fundraiser. Every photo you take of it using the hashtags #LEGOStarWars and #RoarForChange, Lucasfilm and Star Wars: Force for Change will donate $1 to UNICEF. The fundraiser will run until May 25.

If you’re a LEGO Black VIP card holder, you may have recently gotten an email of some of the promotions that will be happening during the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th event this weekend. Thanks to my friend John, we now have confirmation of the promotions which include the LEGO Star Wars UCS Y-Wing Starfighter Blueprint (5005624) with a Star Wars purchase of $35 or more. There’s supposed to be a code to use at checkout and I’m not sure if they’re all unique or if the same for all Black card holders.

The other promotion is a 1/1 18 karat white gold R2-D2 minifigure with a certificate of authenticity. This promo is connected to your account so you’re already entered if you have the card and there’s no extra hoops to jump through.

LEGO Creative Storybook (40291) Closer Look

If you didn’t see it a few days ago, I posted about the June 2018 LEGO Store Calendar and the big promotion for the month is the LEGO Creative Storybook (40291). It will be free with a purchase of $99 or more from June 4-20, while supplies last, and it is basically in the style of a pop-up book based on Hans Christian Andersen and his fairy tale stories.

As I mentioned before, this promo set may be a teaser to a LEGO Ideas project that may turn out to become an official set later on but we’ll see. In the meantime, we can look forward to the Creative Storybook which shows a scene from The Ugly Duckling along with Andersen writing a story in an outdoor setting.

LEGO DUPLO Launches Interactive Experience on Amazon Alexa

LEGO has partnered up with Amazon in their efforts to integrate physical and digital play by using Amazon Alexa to tell stories while interacting with the bricks. By downloading the LEGO DUPLO stories onto Alexa, you can instruct it to tell the stories while also encouraging kids to learn through the bricks.

Adding to the LEGO® portfolio of integrated physical and digital play experiences, LEGO® DUPLO® Stories has today been released on Amazon Alexa as play starter inspiration for our youngest audience and their parents.

Billund, Denmark (May 2nd, 2018): Launched today in the US and UK, LEGO® DUPLO® Stories will be one of the first Alexa skills to combine physical play with Amazon’s Alexa voice service. The skill is developed as an interactive storytelling experience to ignite fun explorative play for the youngest children, aged 2–5, and their parents.

Using any Alexa device, such as Amazon Echo or Echo Dot, children will be able to respond and actively engage with the LEGO DUPLO Stories, all designed to encourage active participation and help nurture children’s inquisitive instinct of learning through play. LEGO DUPLO Stories covers 10 themes based on new as well as existing LEGO DUPLO products. Together with their parents, toddlers can choose between five vehicle or five animal stories, and define the route of the story, while guided by Alexa. The different stories will help advance children’s constructive, exploratory and roleplay skills with tasks ranging from numeric exercises to colour recognition, articulation practice and creative building challenges.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantum Realm Explorers Revealed

A new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp came out yesterday and now there are images of a LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set to accompany the film. The set is called the Quantum Realm Explorers (76109) and it has 200 pieces while retailing for $19.99. It features the new Quantum Vehicle and it includes minifigures of Ant-Man, Wasp, and Ghost. The set will be available starting on June 1.

Fly into action against Ghost with Ant-Man’s Quantum Vehicle and The Wasp with this LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes 76109 Quantum Realm Explorers set. The Quantum Vehicle features an opening, bug-eye-shaped minifigure cockpit, adjustable insect arms, stud shooters and adjustable engines for launch, hover and flight modes. The new LEGO Juniors The Incredibles 2 sets have been available for a few weeks now but per our agreement with LEGO, we start our review of the sets starting today with Elastigirl’s Rooftop Pursuit (10759). The set contains 95 pieces and retails for $19.99 which is the standard price point for the Juniors sets. The contents of the box include two numbered bags, some loose Quick Start molds, and the instructions.
