LEGO Billboards at Warner Bros. Studios

LEGO WB Studios

The LEGO Batman Movie is coming out this weekend and it’s making everything contagious with LEGO. If you’re driving by the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, you can see some new LEGO billboards that have been put up depicting various TV shows. The billboards show a lot of DC shows including Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Gotham as well as ome other comedy shows such as The Big Bang Theory, Mom, 2 Broke Girls, The Middle, and Ellen.

There were 10,000 LEGO bricks used to recreate the LEGO versions of the billboards while taking more than 300 hours of building and compositing. One the images were printed out, it took an additional 70 hours to install. The billboards will be on display for a couple of weeks.

Wearable LEGO Jacket at The LEGO Batman Movie Premiere

Yesterday was the premiere of The LEGO Batman Movie in Los Angeles where many of the voice actors were on hand to celebrate. Also attending was President of DC Entertainment and President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products, Diane Nelson who was wearing a LEGO mosaic jacket featuring a Batman/Joker on the front and the logo on the back. The jacket was designed by renowned LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya and was inspired by the “Necessary Evil” sculpture from The Art of the Brick: DC Comics exhibit. It took Nathan more than 10,000 pieces, most of which are 2×2 plates, and over 100 hours to create. Thanks to Briana for emailing in about it.

The LEGO Batman Movie Experience Walmart Debacle

The LEGO Batman Movie Walmart

If you went to The LEGO Batman Movie Experience at Walmart stores yesterday in hoping participate in the event, a majority of you were probably met with disappointment. For many of the 600 stores listed that were set to partake in the event, nothing actually happened there. For those lucky to have a functional event, there was a lot of activities to do including getting the free Accessory Pack (5004930) which is the same as the one as you get for doing the LEGO Store Batman Search & Find. For others, they were met with cardboard cutouts and empty tables.

I’ve had plenty of comments by readers who said that Walmart knew nothing about the event and blamed it on the third-party vendors. It’s not sure if the vendors were part of Warner Bros. or LEGO or just contractor but nobody showed up and people, not surprisingly, were upset to put it nicely. Some readers even took an extra step and called ahead to confirm if their stores were participating but were still met with frustration. Even LEGO had to come out and comment on the events page on Facebook to clarify what was going on.

Clearly, there was very little communication between companies and it’s surprising to see that especially for very anticipated movie like The LEGO Batman Movie. Obviously this hurts the LEGO brand even if it turns out that they weren’t at fault as people were excited about the event and took time to go there but were letdown. Hopefully they can take … Continue

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Suits Revealed

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

USA Today has released a new image of the suits for the upcoming The LEGO Ninjago Movie. As you can see above, the image shows Kai (Michael Pena), Nya (Abbi Jacobson), Jay (Kumail Nanjiani), Lloyd (Dave Franco), Zane (Zach Woods), and Cole (Fred Armisen) all donning new suits. You can also see the hairstyles are slightly different than in the animated series especially Cole who looks like he’s sporting a man bun now.

We’ve also seen an image of Lord Garmardon (Justin Theroux) who was revealed a few days ago and Sensei Wu (Jackie Chan) from the animated short from last year. The only character we haven’t seen yet is Olivia Munn’s Koko.

Keep in mind that they’re grown up now in The LEGO Ninjago Movie and are in high school. Also, the movie is not in the same universe as in the animated series either but in the same as The LEGO Movie. The LEGO Ninjago Movie is in theaters on September 22. So what do you guys think of the new suits?

The LEGO Movie Sequel Changes Directors

Even with the success of the first movie, it looks like that are more changes to The LEGO Movie Sequel. ComicBook.com is reporting that Trolls director Mike Mitchell has now been named the new director for The LEGO Movie Sequel. He replaces Rob Schrab who announced as the previous director around this time two years ago. According to reports, the change to Mitchell was based on creative differences between Warner Bros. and Schrab.

The swap in directors for The LEGO Movie Sequel is the latest change for the movie. Last year, the original script by Phil Lord and Chris Miller was rewritten by Raphael Bob-Waksberg and also the release date was pushed back for a second time to 2019.
