LEGO – The Toy That Changed Our Lives Newsweek Collector’s Edition Available July 17

Newsweek: LEGO - The Toy That Changed Our Lives

The folks at Topix Media Lab has reached out to us letting us know of their latest Newsweek Collector’s Edition which is about LEGO. The issue named LEGO – The Toy That Changed Our Lives will be available starting July 17 where magazines are sold and it takes a look at the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick, the 40th anniversary of the LEGO minifigure, and the 50th anniversary of LEGOLAND parks. I’ve already taken an early look at the issue and it’s a pretty fun read and I’m sure LEGO fans will want to add it to their collection. Again, it will be available starting next Tuesday and you can find it where magazines are sold or in the link above (July 17).

LEGO Technic Bucket Wheel Excavator (42055) Amazon Sale

It looks like Amazon has unofficially kicked off Prime Day early with a great deal on the LEGO Technic Bucket Wheel Excavator (42055). It is currently priced at $199.99 which is a whopping 29% off the normal price of $279.99. Coming in at 3,929 pieces, the Bucket Wheel Excavator is one of the largest Technic sets LEGO has released and the $0.05/piece ratio makes it even better. We usually don’t see decent discounts this big for sets this size but this is one of the exceptions.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis SDCC 2018 Screening

A few months ago, we got our first look at the upcoming direct-to-home LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis and it looks like there will be a screening of the movie at San Diego Comic Con 2018. There will also be a panel of the voice actors and filmmakers for a post-screening session. The main thing that fans may want to attend the panel is that they will be giving away the exclusive Jessica Cruz Green Lantern LEGO minifigure. The panel will be held on Sunday July 22, 2018 1:45-3:30pm in Room 6BCF.

For those who are unable to attend the screening, you can pre-order the movie on Amazon which will also include the Jessica Cruz minifigure.

Aquaman must battle foes in the air, on land, and in the depths of the Seven Seas, along with some help from The Justice League, to save the day in his latest animated adventure, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis. Enjoy the first-ever live showing of the film, then prepare for laughs when the postscreening panel takes the stage. Discussing the fun of making a LEGO movie will be actors Dee Bradley Baker (American Dad!) as Aquaman, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Batman: Arkham Knight) as Batman, Grey Griffin (DC Super Hero Girls) as Wonder Woman and Lois Lane, Cristina Milizia (Bunsen Is a Beast) as Green Lantern/Jessica Cruz, Susan Eisenberg (Justice League / Justice League Unlimited) as Mera, Eric Bauza (The Adventures of Puss in Boots) as Jimmy Olsen, and Fred

LEGO Ninjago at San Diego Comic Con 2018

LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu SDCC 2017

LEGO Ninjago has been a staple at San Diego Comic Con for the past few years and fans have been drooling over the details for the upcoming seasons. Not surprisingly, LEGO Ninjago will be back at SDCC 2018 as the Sunday Programming Schedule is now out and there will be a panel held early in the morning. On Sunday, July 22 from 10:30-11:30am in Room 6A, the people behind LEGO Ninjago will be on hand and it’ll be a little interesting this year. The description doesn’t say they will talk about the next season but it says they will talk about their favorite memories and other reflections of the show. I believe they’ll still give a sneak peek but it’s curious the description doesn’t say the panel will like with previous years. Like as before, I’ll try to do a live tweeting session if my schedule lines up.

If you think ninja and LEGO are cool, then this is the panel for you! Ninjago veterans Tommy Andreasen (co-creator/producer) and Michael Svane Knap (LEGO senior design manager) are joined by lead writer Bragi Schut, voice talents Brent Miller (voice of Zane), Kelly Metzger (voice of Nya), and Vincent Tong (voice of Kai) to talk about their favorite memories and other reflections on creating LEGO’s longest running and most successful show. Bring the kids! Ninjaaaaa-GO! Moderated by the LEGO Group’s Brian Bowler.

LEGO DC Super-Villains: Meet the Talent Behind the Video Game SDCC 2018 Panel

LEGO DC Super-Villains Video Game

The San Diego Comic Con 2018 programming schedules have started rolling out and not surprisingly, there are some LEGO-related panels that fans can look forward to. One of the main panels that I was expecting was the LEGO DC Super-Villains: Meet the Talent Behind the Video Game. It will be held on Friday July 20, 2018 2:15pm – 3:15pm in Room 6A. During the panel, we can see more details about the game including more character reveals as most fans are wanting to see. There’s no mentioning of any giveaways during the panel but we usually do get something for attending.

The team behind the LEGO DC Super-Villains videogame, including Arthur Parsons (head of design, TT Games) and fan-favorite Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy, give an inside look at the first LEGO game to put players at the center of a villain-centric adventure packed with favorite locations and characters from across the DC Universe. This celebration of villainy will provide fans with exciting character reveals and details about the story. Players have the ability to create and play as a super-villain throughout LEGO DC Super-Villains, unleashing mischievous antics and wreaking havoc in an action-packed, hilarious story written in collaboration with DC Comics. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and The LEGO Group will release the game on October 16.
