LEGO Back To School Pack (5005969) Promotion Now Live on Shop@Home

The promotion for the LEGO Back To School Pack (5005969) is now live on LEGO Shop@Home. You can get it from now until July 29 with purchases of $50 or more, while supplies last. The pack includes almost everything a child needs for school including a notebook, pencil, ruler, eraser, two sticker sheets and a case to carry everything. Note that this item is the same one from last year but now you have another chance to get it if you missed out before.

Rumors of LEGO Hidden Side Theme Being Discontinued

If you’ve been online the past few days, especially on Instagram, you may have seen a rumor flying around saying that the LEGO Hidden Side will be discontinued. Considering the theme was just released last year, LEGO wouldn’t think of stopping a theme this quickly, would they?

Unfortunately from what I’ve been hearing, the LEGO Hidden Side theme will indeed be discontinuing at the end of 2020. This new style of play combining the physical bricks with the digital aspect wasn’t sustainable as they thought it would be. I’ve also read that LEGO will be stopping production on the sets and independent stores can no longer order them, just whatever left of stock LEGO has at their warehouses.

If these things are true, it’s sad to see a theme with so much potential going away so quickly especially when we don’t get that many horror themed sets. If the LEGO Hidden Side is discontinued, LEGO will inform the public ahead of time like they have in the past on some items.

LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) Back on Backorder Status

LEGO is now accepting backorders for the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) and you can now place orders for it again. It has been listed as temporarily out of stock for a good while but it is stated that the set will ship in 60 days. This is one of the sets that I reported will be retiring at the end of the year. Hopefully LEGO will produce enough to go around before it goes away. You can also use the check store stock to see if there are any available near you.

LEGO Ideas Launches Fan Vote for New Book

LEGO Ideas has launched a new fan vote for an upcoming book that is geared towards AFOLs. In collaboration with Adult Fans of LEGO, the book will be celebrating the history of the LEGO brick. There are three different books that you can vote for, each with their own style and they are called:

• The LEGO Brick Museum
• The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks
• LEGO History in 100 Bricks

Fans will be able to vote starting today and it will run until August 9. For the chosen title, you can get it through crowdfunding and fans who pre-order it will get their names printed in the back of the book. There will also be future opportunities to pledge for more rewards from LEGO.

Check out the press release below.

LEGO® Ideas launches fan vote for a new LEGO book aimed at AFOLs (Adult Fan of LEGO)

LEGO Publishing, a division of the LEGO Group, is excited to announce a public vote on LEGO Ideas to choose the direction for a new book celebrating the rich history of the iconic LEGO brick, made in collaboration with AFOLs.

Will fans want to wander the pages of the “Brick Museum”, discover the “100 bricks that built LEGO history” (are your favourites included?), or uncover the “secret life of LEGO bricks”?

Developed with input from a group of AFOL ‘ambassadors’ and written by lifelong LEGO fan and US editor of Blocks magazine Daniel Konstanski, each of the three book ideas is a different spin on showcasing the

LEGO Seasonal Mini Gingerbread House (40337) Promotion on Shop@Home – July 2020

For this weekend, LEGO is now offering the 2019 LEGO Seasonal Mini Gingerbread House (40337) on Shop@Home with purchases of $100 or more, while supplies last. This promotion will run until 11:50pm EST, 7/26. This set was previously used for the Christmas holiday promotion last year. Note that this set was not the one that was advertised in the July 2020 Store Calendar. I’m not sure why LEGO decided to make the change.

Rumored LEGO Direct to Consumer Sets Retiring in 2020

It’s that time of the year where we get some information of what LEGO sets will be retiring soon. According to my sources, there will be some popular LEGO direct to consumer sets that will be going away by the end of the year. I’ve been told that the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260), Taj Mahal (10256), and the LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) will be retired. Only the Ideas set hasn’t been out for a year as of this writing. One of the reasons why the Tree House is going away so fast is that there are so many upcoming Ideas sets in the pipeline, there’s no more room for it on the shelves.

Most of the sets are out of stock on Shop@Home but the Diner is available on Amazon. I suggest checking the store stock on the Shop@Home product pages to see if your local LEGO Brand Store still has them.

LEGO Super Mario Rumored SDCC 2020 Exclusive

San Diego Comic Con 2020 goes virtual this year and we’ve already reported that LEGO won’t be doing any panels as confirmed on the schedule. As for the LEGO exclusive, there’s no word on anything but there are rumors floating around Instagram about one that is LEGO Super Mario related. The set is called Toad’s Special Hideaway (77907) and it is priced at $19.99. There’s no details on where it will be sold at but it could be sold online at Target similar to the LEGO Star Wars Celebration 2019 Darth Vader Bust (75227). As always, nothing is confirmed so we’ll see if LEGO does anything next week.
