LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar (75964) Coming in September

LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar (75964)

The press release of the summer 2019 LEGO Harry Potter sets was released yesterday and LEGO also announced the new LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar (75964). It will have 305 pieces and retail for $39.99 and will be available starting on September 1. It is a brand new advent calendar that is added to LEGO’s already big lineup of advent calendars for various themes including City, Friends, and Star Wars.

The images do not show all of the builds and minifigures like with the other LEGO advent calendars. This could be a new move to give more of a surprise for what we will be getting. The product description, however, does give more information about it and the main thing is that it includes 7 minifigures and a number of other builds that aren’t shown on the front of the box.

You may have noticed that I haven’t reviewed any advent calendars from the past few years but I’ll definitely take a look at this new LEGO Harry Potter one when it comes out.

Lepin Factories Raided and Boss Arrested

Lepin Raid

Depending on what time zone you’re in, this is either some early morning news or late night news. The Shanghai Police has announced on their Weibo that they have successfully raided a few Lepin factories and the boss, surnamed Li, has been arrested. If you didn’t know, LEGO has been taking legal action against the company for almost three years and even though they supposedly won an infringement case against them last year, Lepin was still producing counterfeit sets.

According to the post, there were three warehouses raided, four people arrested, including Li, and police confiscated 90 production molds and 630,000 finished products ready to be sold which equated to more than 200 million yuan (~$30 mil USD). You can check out more images of the raid in the link above.

LEGO Regional Exclusives to be Widely Available After May 1

This year, LEGO has released a number of regional exclusive sets including the 2019 Chinese New Years ones for the Asian regions, The LEGO Movie 2 BrickHeadz from Target and Walmart, as well as the Star Wars Celebration Darth Vader Bust also from Target. Many of you have voiced your concerns over these exclusives and it looks like LEGO has finally listened.

Tormod over on the LAN has posted a brief statement about future region exclusives and it says that sets released after May 1st will be widely available at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home for a limited time after launch (3-6 months). This should give enough time for those who actually want an exclusive to be able to get them with ease without going through the secondary market. There’s still products that will be truly exclusive such as gift-with-purchase promo items, LEGOLAND, LEGO House, LEGO Inside Tour, and Comic Con items. This means that it looks like a lot of us will be able to get the recently revealed Dragon Boat Race (80103) without jumping through hoops.

What do you think of this massive change that LEGO is putting in place?

Dear AFOL Community,

It has become apparent to us at the LEGO Group that you are dissatisfied with the recent launches of regional exclusive products. We’ve received a lot of feedback on the LEGO festival products to mark the Chinese New Year (sets 80101 and 80102), the LEGO The Movie 2 Brickheadz (41634, 41635,41636 & 41637) in the US as well as the

LEGO Seasonal Dragon Boat Race (80103) Set Image

At the beginning of the year, LEGO released the Asia exclusive Chinese New Year sets but there was also another set that we couldn’t publish due to it being watermarked. We can finally post about the last set which is called the Dragon Boat Race (80103) which comes from online retailer Digibee. There’s no details regarding the set price or piece count but there are a whopping 15 minifigures that goes with it. As for the release date, it’ll probably be available around May or June for the Asia region countries since the Dragon Boat Festival will be held June 7-9. For us here in the US, we’ll have to get it off the secondary market or from a connection from someone who are able to get it from those countries. I assume this set will sell out fairly quickly just like the ones from earlier this year.
