Super Bowl XLIX Commercials Recreated in LEGO in the Brick Bowl

The NFL Super Bowl XLIX will be happening this Sunday and will vie to be the most watched sporting events on television. Throughout the game, advertisers will be showcasing their $4.5 million commercials which last for about 30 seconds and they hope it will stay in the minds of millions of viewers. So what does this have to do with LEGO?

UK-based animation studio A+C Studios is planning on recreating all of the commercials that will be shown during the Super Bowl in LEGO form with 36 hours in the Brick Bowl. Once half time of the Super Bowl begins, the team will watch the ads at their 5,000 square foot studio and start creating the storyboards for the commercials. Soon after, they will start start building and animating the recreated ads. After their 36 hours are up, they will broadcast the animated movie. A+C Studios will be documenting their whole process so follow their social media sites to keep up with what they are doing.

I, for one, can’t wait to see the real commercials as they are pretty entertaining but to see them in LEGO is something else. As for the game itself, I hope the Seattle Seahawks win again this year.

HBO Asia The LEGO Movie Red Envelopes

To kick off the Lunar New Year overseas, HBO Asia will be premiering The LEGO Movie on February 19 and if you’re subscribed to the channel, you can pick up yourself a packet of these snazzy The LEGO Movie red envelopes. These envelopes feature all the main characters of the movie but is missing Wyldstyle for some reason. Geek Culture notes that you can get one of these packets at any Starhub locations but you may want to verify first. As someone who will be celebrating the Lunar New Year next month, I wish I could get my hands on something like this but I probably won’t be able to. Thanks to Deborah for emailing this in.

LEGO at the 2015 Nuremberg Toy Fair

The toy fair season is in full swing and we had some tidbids of the Summer 2015 LEGO sets at the 2015 London Toy Fair last week. Tomorrow continues the goodness with the 2015 Nuremberg Toy Fair where we can finally get some long-awaited images of the various sets. We’ve already seen offcial images of some of the sets like the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron sets so we’re going to be focusing more on some of the more anticipated stuff like the rest of the LEGO Scooby-Doo sets and the LEGO Jurassic World sets.

Updated with images from various Twitter users.

Promo Brick has provided some images for the LEGO Architecture as well for the LEGO Series 14 and Simpsons Minifigures.

More images from Twitter.

More images via Ukonio.de. It was noted that the LEGO Scooby-Doo and LEGO Star Wars sets were displayed but photography was prohibited.

Update: Some images have been removed at the request of the original creator of the images even though we gave credit and exposure. We will never link to that site ever again for future Toy Fairs. If you want to see some close-up pictures of the sets, Spieletest has some nice videos on our other post.

LEGO Castle Fantasy Era Sets Coming Back in 2016?

In 2013, LEGO brought back the LEGO Castle them and to say the least, it was a pretty underwhelming theme in my opinion. It was a one-off wave which featured the blue Lion Knights fighting against the red Dragon Knights and it combined things from the Kingdoms and the 2007 Castle subthemes. The sets came out in the Spring of 2013 and there were no subsequent waves in 2014 and won’t be any in the first half of 2015.

However, there’s a rumor on Eurobricks that LEGO might be bringing the LEGO Castle theme back in 2016. According to BrickJagger, there was a memo sent out to a LEGO Store manager and it said that a new Castle theme would be coming out late 2015/mid 2016. This new wave was said to be “a lot like the Castle theme from a few years ago, the one with the Dwarves and Trolls.” The sets that is being referred to is the 2007 Castle subtheme which was known as the Fantasy Era. These sets were pretty popular among fans and they had an assortment of different minifigures that were included such as the ones mentioned. Given that the most recent Castle sets have been retired and the Hobbit sets are pretty much done, a new fantasy theme would be a good addition and provides some variety in the different LEGO themes.

This piece of news is pretty interesting but it could also be completely false so take it with a grain of salt. I’ll keep following up on … Continue

Advisory Notice: Regarding Leaked Summer 2015 Images

It’s that time when we start seeing images for the Summer 2015 LEGO sets but it’s also the time when we start seeing leaked images that are watermarked with the “Confidential” stamp. These images are usually from catalogs that retailers have and they’re itching to share sets that are coming out later this year. Publishing and distributing of these images are not allowed by LEGO although it doesn’t stop people from doing it.

The watermarked imaged images are pretty low quality and usually doesn’t reflect the final product although there are similarities between them. Yes, I have seen the images that have come out the past couple of days for various themes but please do not leave those links in our comment sections. I will be deleting them and if there are repeat offenders, I will be banning them from commenting. I’ve already had to delete a quite few of them already the past two days or so and will be continuing to delete them if I see them on my posts. Read more on LEGO’s policy of these images over on Brickset.

Other sites might be posting them or to the links with the images to get more traffic or whatnot but I’m not about that. I want quality posts that give quality to the readers, not showing off low quality images that’s hard to see the details. I have no direct relationship with The LEGO Group but I do respect their policies. Patience is virtue and the official images will be released in … Continue
