LEGO Technic Material Handler (42144) & Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter (42145) Revealed

LEGO has published the Taiwanese 2HY Catalog here it shows two more LEGO Technic sets that are supposed to be coming soon, the Material Handler (42144) and Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter (42145).

There haven’t been many larger scale Technic aircrafts that have been released in recent years so the helicopter should bode well for fans unless there’s another cancellation. We already know what happened with the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) a few years ago due to it being a military vehicle. There is a H175M that is used in the UK as a military derivative so we’ll see if it actually gets released or gets axed at the last minute again.

To celebrate Pride month, LEGO has started a new campaign called The A-Z of Awesome which celebrates inclusivity and self-expression in the LBGTQIA+ community by using LEGO bricks.

The A-Z of Awesome – Because Self Expression and Identity Matter

To mark Pride Month, the LEGO Group invites LGBTQIA+ families to bring their identity to life through creative self-expression

Campaign calls to raise awareness of the identities and stories in those communities

June kicks off a series of plans from the LEGO Group in support of LGBTQIA+ communities

Billund, June 1st, 2022: The LEGO Group today announces its launch of the “A-Z of Awesome’, an ongoing campaign which runs into 2023 using LEGO builds to celebrate inclusivity and embrace self-expression in the LGBTQIA+ community.

The A-Z will be developed in creative LEGO creations to help LGBTQIA+ families use play to have open conversations about their identities. For the alphabet to be created in the most authentic and meaningful way possible, the designs of each letter will be created by members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including LEGO fans, young and old, members of the community and LEGO employees.

Launching during Pride Month, the alphabet aims to build understanding and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community and the different abbreviations used.

‘The A-Z of Awesome’ aims to present the community’s vocabulary more widely through a fun and playful medium. The LEGO Group is inviting submissions including an explanation of what the build means to its creator, which will be featured on a dedicated website www.LEGO.com/AtoZ.

LEGO Teases Brand New Theme Announcement for LEGO Con 2022

LEGO has released another teaser for LEGO Con 2022 and this time, it is for something big and out of this world. The video also shows a brand new theme that will be launching this year. All signs are pointing towards LEGO Avatar: The Way of Water as the official Avatar Twitter account already teased it a few weeks ago but LEGO has never posted about it until now. I’ll be very surprised if it is something totally different but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

LEGO Creator Expert Rebranded to LEGO Icons

For a few years now the LEGO Creator Expert theme has been used for sets aimed at older builders and more recently, the 18+ sets that had no particular theme. LEGO has announced that these sets will be now be under the LEGO Icons theme starting on June 1 and the name and logo will be on packaging on January 1, 2023. This umbrella theme will now be used for all of the adult focused LEGO sets to help adults consumers find sets that cater to their interests. This will not affect sets that are not already part of another theme such as Architecture, Ideas, and Technic.

From June 1st, 2022, we will be uniting many of our adult focused LEGO® sets under the name LEGO® Icons to help our adult consumers easily to find new, immersive builds or models that link to their interests and passions, particularly when shopping or browsing online. The name LEGO Icons will span all of our sets designed for older builders that are not already part of an existing LEGO theme such as LEGO® Technic, LEGO® Ideas or LEGO® Architecture.

LEGO® IDEAS THE STARRY NIGHT SET – PRESS RELEASE

REIMAGINE VINCENT VAN GOGH’S ICONIC PAINTING WITH THE NEW LEGO IDEAS STARRY NIGHT SET

17th May, 2022: In tribute to Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting, the LEGO Group has revealed the LEGO® Ideas The Starry Night set. This beautiful set was designed by Truman Cheng, a 25-year old Hong Kong based LEGO fan, through a submission on the LEGO Ideas platform, and has been created in conjunction with The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The three-dimensional set reimagines Vincent van Gogh’s renowned 1889 painting in LEGO form, with strong emphasis on the artist’s striking brush strokes and colour choice. Inspired by the view from his window at the Monastery of Saint-Paul de Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy, France, where the artist spent twelve months, The Starry Night is one of the world’s most well-known post-impressionist works and has been a visitor favourite at MoMA since it first arrived in 1935.
