Comparing the LEGO Ideas The Flintstones (21316) to Submitted Project

LEGO Ideas The Flintstones (21316)

The LEGO Ideas The Flintstones (21316) was officially announced yesterday and there has been a divide among fans of how the set came out. A few of you have asked me to compare the original project to the one that will be coming out later this week. I did have a clear look at the project when I was at Philly Brick Fest last year and here are my thoughts.

LEGO Ideas The Flintstones

As with other LEGO Ideas sets, there are differences between the official set and the projects as LEGO has the final say on what they want in the set. One of the things I’ve noticed is that the official set has more muted colors compared to the project which had very vibrant colors as some of the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons had. The result is somewhat bland especially on the inside of the house.

The dirt path and the Welcome to Bedrock sign has been completely omitted which helped reduce the parts count. Some other things that were excluded were some of the characters such as Bamm-Bamm, Pebbles, and Dino. Perhaps they could be in a future set? Probably not.

Speaking of the minifigures, Barney has been given regular legs and is the same height as Fred even though the cartoon, he was considerably shorter. I think using the new bendable short legs from … Continue

It is the Podracer (30461) which has 58 pieces and it pays homage to Anakin’s podracer and is a smaller counterpart to the 75258 version. There’s no word yet on its availability at this time but I assume it’ll be part of a promotion when the 20th Anniversary Edition sets are released.

LEGO at New York Toy Fair 2019

As you probably know by now, the 2019 New York Toy Fair is happening this weekend and LEGO will be revealing a lot of products that are coming out later this year. I personally won’t be there but we are sending someone there to provide us with images of the sets. We’ll also source images from social media as we have done in the past few years. It’ll be busy day when the toy fair kicks off as it is one of the days with the most traffic for us here on the site. I’ll be updating that particular post throughout the day so strap in for a fun day of reveals.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Classic TV Series – Batcave (76052) Amazon Sale

Although the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Classic TV Series – Batcave (76052) has been retired for almost a year now, Amazon still has a few of these sets in stock and is currently on sale. As of this writing, it is prices at $186.49 which is a savings of $83.50 or 31% of the original price. This is a great price on a retired set especially if you didn’t have a chance to pick it up when it was still available on LEGO Shop@Home.
